I entered in a moment of optimism, and now the forecast is a lot better (well, drier) than the 1st edition. I feel a little less mad now! But only a little ...

The weather is now looking cloudy for the weekend, whereas a few days ago it was predicting clear skies. So, bad side is no moonlight, good side is less freezing temperatures at 4am 😄

As well as multiple layers of clothes I'll be coming with several charged-up front lights - even though I've done many night rides (in the summer), this one will have more darkness than I'm used to!

I hadn't really thought that far ahead See how I feel on the night, but if the moon were to come out just at that time it would be a shame to miss it.
Update : I didn't do the Stonehenge loop (and didn't see anyone else heading off that way).
It was a fantastic ride though, and the night with the mix of full moon and mist was especially memorable.

I tried to do it ... but found I'd only copied the GPX onto my spare GPS, and couldn't be arsed with digging it out
There's at least one pic of a bike in front of the stones on FB/'gram. Looked amazing in the moonlight!

I still think this ride is absurd in November, but I've done it twice now, and over 200 finished this year; a record for a UK 300km, let alone in November!! It's brilliantly organised, and I think can be special if:
- the weather plays nicely, and
- you're very happy skipping a whole night's sleep.

Stansted Airport Express 100 for me today. Base wind speed as forecast but 50 mph gusts did not materialise. Headwind out, tailwind return. Rain eased in afternoon.

Well done. There were still some fearsome headwinds around Cambridge in the middle of the day, like riding through a wall of treacle (but without the sweetness).

I was HOPING to go on the HOPEy NEW YEAR 100k audax (Peak District) on Jan 4th, but I see it's now full up.

Anyone know if Audax UK do a waiting list process in case anyone drops out?

It's entirely down to the organiser. As a ROUGH guide, most don't (cos it's extra work*); they prefer to plan for a certain %DNS.
But does no harm to ask!

*AUK don't provide a centralised service.

The Kent Invicta Grimpeur 100 in early March.

It's less climbing (per kilometre) then my Tour of the Hills audax last summer, but I was fitter then.
Will have to take this slow & steady, and keep and eye on the clock.

Ooh I like the look of that. I was planning on doing my monthly 100k on the Saturday but I'll consider that instead.
