What's the worst thing that you've forgotten to bring with you for a ride?

I forgot my work pass onto which was attached my locker key, in which I have my shower gel, toiletries and change of clothes.
+1; had the laptop in bag so went home and worked from there…

I'm not getting what is wrong with this anecdote.

No me neither.
I left my cycle helmet at Bristol Templemeads Station in about 1998 at a caff and haven't bothered with one since ^_^

Ok, for the benefit of the anti helmet brigade I will change (and slightly embellish) my anecdote so they may find a little humour in it.

I recently did a group ride from Allenheads to Tynemouth. The first mile or so out of Allenheads is a fairly nasty climb. One lad got to the top first, stopped to wait for the rest of the group and took a selfie. Looked at the pic and realised he wasn't wearing his 'CLOTHES', they were still at the pub from where we set off!!

Oh how we laughed..................... :laugh::laugh::laugh::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Years ago, like nearly forty, I cycled to the station to get a season ticket for getting to school, leaving my bike leaning against the wall outside the ticket office.

A few days later I looked in the shed for my bike and was puzzled to see it wasn't there. Racked my brains and realised I'd left it at the station. Went back and, of course it wasn't where I'd left it. Went to the police station to report it missing and there it was. A passing constable had seen it looking abandoned and had taken it in for safe keeping.

House keys.

I had a chain quick link break a couple of hundred yards from home on the way to work so scooted back and swapped bikes. Went to leave work in the afternoon, did the usual pocket pat down to check I'd got everything I needed prior to leaving the office - phone, office keys & pass, cash, house keys... er house keys... um where are the house keys... oh sh1t what have I done with my house keys, I know I had them when I left home as I had to lock the door, etc It was only after a few minutes panicking that I couldn't remember putting them back in my pocket after locking the shed having changed bikes. For the first time in ages I rode the most direct route home and found the keys still in the shed lock ... in full view of anybody passing as there was no fence or gate in the way.

I don't think anyone here is anti-helmet, I'm certainly not. It's more of an anti-compulsion thing.
But we should leave it there as the dreaded helmet thread is over there → :okay:

I sat on a bench in my town centre one hot day, I had a drink from my bottle then set off again. The next time i got ready for a ride, about 3 days later i noticed the bottle missing. I traced it back to the bench, I rode past not expecting to see it but it was there 3 days later. How many people must've sat on that bench in those 3 days?

I dropped a jacket in the road once, that I hadn't secured on the rack properly. I realised a few miles later. When I retraced my route, I found the jacket in the road, oily with car tracks on and slightly torn. It's been washed and is my spare now. I was extremely pleased to find it though because my keys were in the pocket, including the only key for my D lock. Some of the keys are a bit bent but they still work.

Work uniform.

I leave my work uniform on top of my bag and I usually pack my bag in morning when I cycle to work to stop my work gear looking like a road map. Packed everything else except my trousers and top.

Wore a pair of net pants and scrubs that day - I looked braw.

Quite. Nothing like a bunch of hobby horse-ists to deflate an amusing thread

And to add to my water bottle and helmet, I forgot my pump this week. It's been attached to the frame for ages but I had to take it off for some reason. So it needs to go in the back pocket but I wasn't used to this. I live on a 17% hill and had got all the way to the bottom before I realised
