According to the Halfords website they deliver bikes 'built' but you have to fit the pedals and straighten the handlebars.

If you have issues with Halfords ability to assemble the bike (I've read bad things!), then just book it in for a basic service at an LBS - they should be fine with that, and should pick up anything that needs adjustment.

Why bother? There are plenty of great bikes out there. Why reward Halfords with the purchase when they barely qualify as a bike shop. They certainly don't need your money.

Couldn't agree more.

I made the mistake of buying from Halfords, some time ago, and I haven't been back since.
Within 3 days of getting my bike from them, at the shop, all checked of course! my chain snapped and wrapped itself between spokes and cassette and nearly hurled me across the road. Thankfully I am reasonably strong and managed to hold onto the bike and keep myself upright. The service there after was shocking!!

The reason the chain snapped was down to poor deraillieur setup!

I have learned a lot since then and would know what to check, but needless to say the bike was sold, and better merchandise purchased from lbs, who know what they are talking about.
