5676 miles total for year 2020 including 14 x imperial centuries. My highest annual mileage ever, so very pleased with that. When I retired in March 2017 I set myself the aim of cycling 100 miles per week (5,200 per annum) and at least 12 imperial centuries each year. I've achieved both each year. I'm not looking to move those targets upwards but at age 66 and with increasingly arthritic joints (especially my knees) I'll be happy to simply maintain them for as long as I can. Living in the very hilly Pennines I have always enjoyed the challenge of climbing steep hills but to manage the strain on my knees I have ridden much less hilly routes this year especially for my century rides which have included large stretches in the comparatively flatlands of Cheshire. In 2020 my total annual climbing amounts to 57 ft per mile - much lower than previous years.
