For @Drago, his birth, and indeed all important life events have been accompanied by a Chris Rea number one.

For everyone else there's a good chance it was Wet Wet Wet. Damn, that joke's been done already.

According to the link given in post two it was Travellin’ Light by Cliff Richard ( never heard of it actually).
According to this site it was What Do You Want by Adam Faith ( never heard of that either), so who knows. What I do know is I was born on the very same day as Cherie Currie of The Runaways, and also Sue, a secretary where i used to work.

Apparently in the UK, the No1 on the day I made my entrance was The Seekers with The Carnival Is Over, I suppose my parents would heartily agree with that sentiment, and in the U.S it was the Byrds with Turn, Turn, Turn, quite appropriate I suppose

Both sites agree on mine, - It's Only Make Believe by Conway Twitty.

Just looked it up to see you must've been born in December 1958, as that record was the official Christmas number one of that year. I had you down as being late 30's, early 40's maybe, so that's quite a surprise.

No Other Love by Ronnie Hilton. Never heard of the singer or the song ☹️

Oh, and in the US it was Heartbreak Hotel by none other than the king himself, Elvis.

"Cara Mia" by David Whitfield with Mantovani and his Orchestra. I've heard of Mantovani but not David Whitfield.

in the USA "Little Things Mean a Lot" by Kitty Kallen

Popular music was obviously really struggling both here and in the US on the day I was born. Still, I probably wasn't listening.
