It looks like it's dancing the Hokey Cokey! You put your left wheel in....

(I'd have one of them too, if there was room in the barn.)

Oh, I forgot:

For Haulage:

We used to get those running up and down our Street when I was a kid. We were on a rat-run that avoided the main roads from the out-skirts to the station. Noisy, smelly and smoky(A two-stroke diesel engine IIRC.). They were capable of amazingly tight turns too.

[pedant mode] Only 'vintage' car so far. Vintage period was up to 1930 [/pedant mode].
So not a mini Metro then

I'd prefer the blown 4.5 litre version, even thought the Six was at least as fast and more reliable. The whine of the Super-charger has to be heard to be believed. My arms have goose-pimples just thinking about that noise.

When I was driving in to York last week I saw, stuck in traffic, going the other way:
Two Austin Sevens on the A64
Then on the A19:
Two more Austin Sevens
A Triumph TR4 followed by an Austin Healey 3000
An Austin Seven Special in a low slung bare aluminum 'boat tail' race body
A Morris Eight
A Ford Popular

A great way to relieve the boredom of sitting in traffic.

Seems to be various car eras 'vintage', 'pre-war', classic' etc. that reflect the car design of different periods. We in the Uk could go by the reigning monarch, it would cover a vast span at the moment but I rather like the thought of driving an Elizabethan car.
The Americans seem to be better at model years as their cars changed design more frequently, but why not us presidents? Or does an 'Obama Civic' not have much of a ring to it?

My father had one, Number was XG 3. It came with rear brakes only and he fitted front brakes to it, being a fitter and turner by trade. He drove it for three or four years and sold it for far more than he paid when he bought it.

I have a dream about having a vintage VW camper that I hire out for holidays but also as a wedding car (it's quite popular with the bridezilla's apparently).

Now that I don't work so many weekends, it's a doable plan, but the thought of it scares me, have no idea about A) mechanics B) starting a business.

Think there's variations on 'vintage' depending on where in the world you are, in the US it refers to anything that pre-dates last Tuesday.

A story is told of a guide doing a tour of York with a group of American tourists. On reaching the Minster, one woman pipes up "Is this building pre-war?".

To which, in his iciest voice, the guide replied, "Madam, this building is pre-America..."
