The women's footy.
I have been catching up with Top of the Lake - a very intriguing and beautifully directed disappeared-child mystery set in New Zealand. It has certainly held my attention, but it is a little melodramatic. Holly Hunter reprises her stony-faced mystery woman schtick, and Elizabeth Moss gives a lovely nuanced performance, yet again.
Yes, I watched it all and thought it was really good. There were aspects of it that I felt didn't work so well, but even given that, it was still head and shoulders above the usual TV detective genre pap.
Well I couldn't disagree more, but then I like the work of Jane Campion and Elisabeth Moss. Even Nicole Kidman, who isn't my favourite actress, was brilliant as an exasperated and exasperating mother. In the first 15 minutes you couldn't possibly have got a true idea of what was going on. You have to be patient and work at it a bit, as the detectives do, but perhaps you prefer stories that are more straightforward from the start?
Did anyone else notice the car she was driving?I've also enjoyed the first three episodes of In The Dark.
We watched this and enjoyed it but then wondered if we'd missed anything in series one so we began watching that tonight as well. For the first time ever, we're watching two series simultaneously. And it's great!Top of the lake season 2 tonight 9pm
Well worth a watch from both a human and sporting angle, tragedyand supreme athleticismabounds.
