I had thought of doing some running on alternate days to mix stuff up a bit. Would be a bit concerned of getting knee problems as Im around 90 kg at the moment.......... or I was last weight check in 6 or 8 weeks ago.

Crack open a beer and watch rugby on the telly sat on the turbo just gently spinning

Or just crack open a beer and turn the telly on

Swimming in a nice warm pool, brilliant, only started last June and I now do 3x1 mile swims a week and I feel great. The benefits of better overall fitness have also crossed over to the bike.

it makes a real change to read this and not one person has said - wah just get on and ride you big girl - i have been going crazy here waiting for the rain to stop and now its ice everywhere :cursing: last time i went out like this i learnt why they say he who goes out on frosty wet mornings is likely to get his arse slapped by tarmac . so now sitting here watching the weather and slowly getting my self into a bad mood

Swimming's good exercise without adding load to you're knees if that's an option for you. If can use a gym you could work your way through the different cardio machines to relieve the boredom or do a class. I like rollers when the kids are asleep with wireless headphones and a cycle race or film on the telly. Doesn't work with comedies.

I just sulk

I commute in all weathers, but bad weather can deter me from the weekend rides. I don't know how I'd handle the weather you lot have been getting lately, though: it sounds nasty . Have any of the hardcore commuters among you skipped any commutes yet, due to the floods, wind, etc.?

The weather doesn't often prevent me from cycling, if I want to, I will ride. I do however spend most of my cycling time on a turbo trainer anyway, not because of the weather, but because the performance benefit vs time spent ratio is much greater!

Sessions on a Concept 2 rowing machine. I enjoy it. keeps the cardio ticking over and is a nice change, working different muscle groups.
