If it was me I would probably try and write a small computer game.

Learn a new skill? - Playing an instrument / drawing / playing etc?

Or you could contact some local charitable organisations and see if they could do with an extra pair of hands over the Christmas period.

I was thinking about doing a long camping/ bike ride to the south and then back up to Mickle's for Xmas. But I think I would just keep on going like I did the last time when I was gone for just over a year in that time I road around France, A bit of Spain, Belgium and Holland. I was just superposed to be gone for 2 weeks

Hindsight and all that but maybe next year you should have the lieu time during more clement, cycle-friendly weather.

Maybe join Sustrans or the CTC and see what you can do ?
