  • WARNING - Has a new size tool
  • by robair, 12 January 2015, 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful
  • This is not the same size as previous 6700 BB, it does come with a converter but that did not fit my tool, tools that fit perfectly are:

    1) Park Tool BBT-59 Bottom Bracket Tool 2) Shimano TL-FC37 HollowTech II BBR60 bottom bracket socket

OK if i have done this right there should be three pics. Most important is the old cup vs the new cup side by side. Old cup is approx 41mm outside diameter and new one (purchased from CRC and described as 68mm English) is about 37mm. The new wrong size is on the left and is back, right hand of the pic is the current one and is silver

Also pics of the new whole BB plus the current left hand cup (non drive side) in situ with the tool in place. (Tool is too big for the new cup)

Comments very welcome !
The inside circle diameter on both those bb are the same at 24mm, so i cant see why it doesnt fit.

Forget the tool, cause you have an adaptor for the tool to make it the correct size.

I just cant see why it wont fit into the shell

People need to read the thread. Cybernight has answered the question and it has nothing to do with axle or shell size.

Ive read the thread and on 3 occassions jay clock states the cups are too small for the shell......

You are both wrong then. The BB in the link is for the same size shell as the one he is taking out. The outer size is different, which is why the regular BB tool needs an adaptor.

The bike must not have a standard BB shell if the 6800 does not fit , so everyones wrong.

The bike already has a standard HT2 BB fitted.

HT2 comes in 3 different thread sizes , if 68mm is to small as OP says then it must be one of the other sizes , either that or the OP is mistaken which is unlikely as he has tried to fit it .

68mm is the width, surely? I can't answer the question, but I'm intrigued. I always thought that HT2 BB's were a standard diameter, the only difference being the English or Italian thread.

The new one I bought has smaller outside diameter but the threads etc all fit fine. When I went to fit it I assumed the new one was different.

When fitted the old one looked like this so the outside ridged part of the cup was bigger in diameter than the shell
