Bought another B17 Narrow off ebay for only £24 and fitted it to my older Brompton, moved that one on to my Van Nic.

Also finished the main frame on my epic Brompton restoration and finished the prep on the rear triangle ready for paint.

Ah I've seen that beauty elsewhere on the site, didn't recognise it. Lovely! 😍

It’s in hibernation waiting for spring

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Busy weekend catching up on stuff i should have kept on top of.
installed new FD and cables on the commuter
took the sticky brakes off the winter bike and doused them in wd 40 and chain lube which seemed to loosen them up
fixed the sticky FD on the winter bike too by again liberal wd 40 and then reindexed the shifting from scratch
put the clip on mudgaurds onto the giant in prep for a club ride .

Not today but yesterday, I decided the bike had suffered enough this winter and gave it a clean (well a lick and a promise) and serviced the drivetrain. Boy, did it need it  I had fitted new tyres and serviced the brakes a few days ago so they didn't need any attention.

Chain, cassette and chainrings all went into the ultrasonic cleaner followed by a scrub with a wire brush. Front and rear derailleurs were cleaned on the bike before I removed the bottom bracket and cleaned the frame and forks. After reassembly I wet-lubed the chain and derailleur pivots, checked the gears over, making a small adjustment to the rear indexing, and all was well with the world again :bravo:

Of course, it got dirty again today when I went out for a ride but hey-ho you can't have everything in life ^_^

Oh yeah, I learned a trick from a mechanic on YouTube that some of you might find useful. If you put the individual bike bits into plastic bags with a small amount of cleaning fluid in each bag and then put them into the cleaner with the usual amount of cleaning fluid in the bottom (and the open end of the bags clear of the fluid level) you end up with nice clean parts but the fluid in the cleaner tank stays clean so you use less fluid :okay:

My old Cannondale R300 received a brifter conversion. It originally ran 7 speed downtube shifters, now it has one of each.
The front derailleur retains the downtube shifter as I'm not a fan of indexed fronts and the rear derailleur is now shifted by brifter.

It is a good idea. I read somewhere that Lance Armstrong used this method to lose weight in some competitions.
Of course, they replaced the left shifter with the normal aero shifter.

A couple of weeks ago I was a bit pleased with myself for solving my Front Light Attachment Problem, reported earlier in the thread

Initially, fish were swimming, as they say. My world was at peace, and steadily lit. But then something changed, in the air: since those heady early days, the lamp became increasingly wobbly. Unpredictable. No, I didn't confront the problem. Yes, I allowed myself to live in denial. Then -yesterday- CLANG, CRUNCH, BOINK:

The light lives on, (and is destined for a less dramatic environment on the handlebar of my commuter bike). I blame myself- stupid stress-raisers caused by serrated brake washers. Also, erm, aliexpress may have been involved.

Anyway I bought another light. I'll try hanging it off my computer mount. See how that goes.

Vibration is alu worst enemy!

The element on my 20 year old range cooker blew again. They seem to last 7-8 years or so. £12 replacement from Amazon and only took about 20 mins to replace. I think the cooker could do with a bit of a clean though.
