After the failed experiment of 38mm Marathon GT365 on the Super Galaxy I decided to go back to the 32mm today. Before I popped the old marathons back on I gave them an inspection and they are looking very tired, I've done 3000km on them mostly on Stockport and Manchester's glass strewn roads, and they are the original tyres on the bike so circa 12 years old, despite the first 10 and a bit years sitting unused in a garage after a puncture.

Anyway I digress, whilst if they where still on the bike I would have left them for a bit it didn't make sense to stick them back on. I got a pair of Marathon Plus in the more modern tread over a year ago for this very moment, so they have gone on.

Mudguards readjusted and ready for the morning hopefully will be a better experience.

Am intrigued by this, as 15km in the rain with one flood seems to reliably strip all the lube from mine (Finish line wet lube)

What magical concoction do you use to so successfully resist British roads?

ISO 100 oil mixed with ISO 7 viscosity oil in a 3:1 ratio. Apply a drop to a roller one at a time. After rotating chain a few revolutions wipe down outside of chain with old cloth to stop it attracting dirt. Then good to go.

Fettled some shoes ? My ebay offer on a pair of Shimano MW7's was accepted and they arrived yesterday. Removed the foot bed and popped the shoes and footbed through the wash twice. The original owner must have been somewhere 'loamy' near a forest as the wash brought quite a few 'bits' of dried out fir tree out of the shoes ! Made a repair to a slight rip in one of the shoes (which I was aware of) - blob of super glue and it's sorted - likely a chainring 'catch'. Popped the shoes on-top of the dehumidifier and they are like new this morning.

So that's three pairs of winter boots now, 2 x MW7 (one for commutes, one for weekend) and a pair of road RW5. That's warm and dry feet for me.

Replaced the EZwheels on my Brompton, having just received the new set from Ali. I went about it in the exemplary way (in a sense of making quite an example out of myself of how not to do things). I persuaded myself that I will be able to complete the task without removing the wheel. I then proceeded to remove the old set successfully, at which point it became abundantly clear that reinstallation without wheel removal is mission impossible. I then removed the wheel, installed the new set and put the wheel back.

Quite an improvement on the old set though!
