You can kinda call it a cycling fettle, I spent a hour putting this together tonight.

Apart from two drawers, it's full of cycling gear 🙄😂

What did you take the photo with, 1970’s Polaroid Camera?

Close a 2019 Samsung J6. Its camera just couldn't focus with the light on. I probably could have played with settings to get a good picture but I couldn't be bothered tbh. Takes me too long sometimes when the smart phone doesn't recognise my chemo damaged fingers.

This is more typical of it which isn't great either but is at least in focus

Sorted out the puncture on the main commuter. Chains cleaned & lubed, frames & wheels cleaned and tyres checked and any embedded objects removed on the main commuter, Spa Elan and Ribble ebike as they seem to be almost the only things ridden recently as they all have full mudguards given they recent bloody awful weather. Also test fitted a seatpost pannier rack on the Spa to see how it sat with a rack bag.

Took advantage of a wet afternoon to fit inline adjusters/ cable QR gizmos on the tandem, in the belief they'd make the cantis easier to adjust and release.

Front one perfect, no problem, definitely helps.

Rear (which is where the greater difficulty lies), spent about two hours trying to get it set up right, eventually concluded cable friction due to a kink was the problem, then pinged a ferrule across the garage to lose it forever.

New ferrules and cable on order...

I hate setting up cantis!!

Shortened the rear fender on my roadbike by six inches so it didn’t look so much like the mud flap on a Kenworth dumper. These were genuine factory parts so why it would be such a poor fit is a mystery.

The front of the fender also needed a 3/8” spacer added to achieve a correct fit.

The only good thing about cantis is that you can use the same boses to install Vs instead.

Surely it would have been better to keep the mudguard longer and run it past the bottom bracket area between the rear stays. All that area will get covered in crud now, there’s a reason why they are made 6” longer.

You could only shift the fender forward about two inches before you ran into the stays, which are far to close to allow the fender between them, then I would have to cut a hole into the fender to allow the front derailleur cable to pass through… so too messy a job to just roll the fender forward… nice idea though.

As for crud building up down there… I’m far to fussy about my bikes to allow them outside in any kind of weather, that what the motor scooter is for.

Or the car if it’s really cold.

Decided to resurrect my old Specialized AWOL gravel bike. SteeI lugless frame, bought down here and originally had flat bars, although the model had drops as standard.

It had been languishing in the spare room for a while due to frustration getting the Tektro discs working properly. Bought some some new Clarke's, a set with calipers included and two discs. We'll see how they perform. Also got a couple of Schwalbe's G One tan walls. All from the UK when I was over. Added a 9 speed chain and some bar tape both from here for about £3 each. Saddle is a Brooks Swallow found here for a fiver.
Looks quite smart with the tyres.
