Can we not eat what we want without being judged?
We cannot ^_^
I am half German, half Italian, live in Scotland, love Cypriot food among many cuisines.
If I'm abroad or here too, I often get judged by what I eat or how I eat it!
Of course, I judge right back at them

Indeed.
Where can I get a dolphin burger?

I've had an ostrich burger from a burger van in Grimsby, although as it's a burger it could have that much seasoning in it it could be any old meat and you wouldn't know.

I had ostrich meat proper in Haifa when I was working there years ago, absolutely lovely, and supposedly low in fat as well.

Where can I get a dolphin burger?

In New Zeeland. Delicious. Didn't know it was dolphin when I ordered it.

You not an egg fan Vickster? I love eggs, a wonder food.

I was very glad to hear the revised advise on safe consumption of eggs. At one time they said they were so high in cholesterol that you should only eat something like 3 a week. Then they revised it by saying it is high in the good cholesterol that helps lower the bad type. In other words knock yourself out with eggs!! I took that advise on wholeheartedly. It is not unkown for me to eat just 5 XL eggs for breakfast, on their own or just with two cups of coffee!! Today I had 3 eggs scrambled for breakie. I find that keeps me going for a lot longer than even a huige bowl of porridge (porridge leaves me hungy 2 or 3 hours after eating a large bowl, I mean so hungry I am shaking). I can eat 3 eggs at 5am then carry on until 12:30 lunch.
Is it partly that most places have some veggie / vegan dishes anyway?
I'll often order veggie stuff - not for idealogical reasons, but because it's delish. Give me some onion bhajis, aloo paneer and a peshwari naan and I'm a very happy bunny.

How do you do the paneer? Do you fry it first to get kind of crispy outer? I must admit to not likeling paneer personally. I also dislike halloumi too. IMO they are both too rubbery to like. My partner does a nice curry with paneer and potatoes IIRC. I just do not like paneer part or the sag part (spinach does not agree with me in a not too disimilar way to cauliflower, I will leave it at that). The curry that she mamkes is very tasty and I do like it despite two elements are not to my liking. I wish there was an alternative to spinach and paneer that could be used as a substitute.

My partner used to make veggie lasagne a lot in the past but stopped. I think we got tired of it every week.

Baking with vegan recipes is innteresting. Instead of egg you can use the juice that chickpeas come in apparently. So my partner likes chickpeas and eats them frequently. Now she hass a use for the the liquid it comes in. Those cakes are actually rather nice. She is not vegan or veggie BTW it is just something she does allongside eating meat at times. She will bake normally too.

I once read that not all fish are as healthy due to the way the fats are stored in the body. IIRC salmon and oily fiish store fats in dark flesh but the white fish types store it in all flesh which is less healthy. Also, the white fish types IIRC tend to be more likely to havee toxins at a higher levels than oily fish. I think it is linked to the fat storage differences. There is also a matter of feeding habits. Bottom dwellers are more likely to have toxins or heavy metal from pollution IIRC but the open water, hunting fish like tuna, mackeral, herring, etc tend to have lower levels of polluion in their flesh.

Also, in salmon it is allso said that wild salmon is also better for eating than farmed due to farming being less than great for the meat. I think that applies to all farmed fish too.

I think it is less clear cut that fish is healthier or better than land based meat. It is too simplistic to think that IMHO. you really need to see marine conservation ratings on sustainability of individual fish species. That is even before you consider the actual healthiness of the meat in the fish type. Plus farmed fish is not always good neither. Similar husbandry issues as land bassed meat sources I reckon.

I still wonder what the vews on plant based foods too. AIUI there is more and more research on plants that indicate there is more to them than previously thought. Woodland that communicates, plants that have a kind of system that indicates pain is possible I think I once read. I think it is not quite like with animals so is better in that respect but could it one day be accepted as not as much better as thought? Of course meat eaters might like the idea that veggie iss murder could be the claim of meat eaters one day to counteer meat is murder comments from the more radical vegans such as i have actually met.

One last point. I do not mind what anyone eats or believes about their foods. I do not feel it is right for anyone to say what otherss should do or think in this respect. I just do not agreee with the more radical POV on all sides. As is often the case, the truth is most likely nearer the middle ground than the extremes.

White fish store their oils in the liver. Hence cod liver oil etc. The flesh itself is very lean.

Oily fish e.g. salmon, trout, herring, mackerel etc store their oils in their muscle.
