Wrong timing.

I reckon it's the 'spring is sprung' thing.

YACF's Birthday is 26th March, so there might have been rumblings at acf as early as 8 days before IIRC. dellzeqq's recollection might be better than mine however.
I looked through my posting history and the only thing of note was that Bear Stearns was going belly-up... who'd have thought eh?

And a lot of the banning/account deleting took place before YACF formed

No the timing is right. I remember GrUb came over here for a while from ACF before moving over to YACF and looking at his posting history it's the same time frame.

the big acf thread on here started at about the same time as the smilies issue, i'll see if i can find it and get a date from it.

edit: first post on that was 26th march, and coincides with the locking of the acf doors and the key being taken. that thread was, iirc, the first thread on here pertaining to what was going on at acf, so the 18th March wasn't a lot of acf-ers reading/posting in the thread.
