Back in the 70s I lived in Withernsea, a sleepy seaside village on the East Coast of Yorkshire. We had a great dance hall called the Grand Pavillion. It was the testing ground for up and coming start. When you realise what these start achieved, it makes you wonder how they arrived in Withernsea. They included, Slade, Mud, T Rex, Alvin Stardust, Gary Glitter. Bay City Rollers, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Iron Maiden, The Beat and many more.

I later got to see Queen, The Eagles, Meatloaf, Joan Armatrading, Michael Jackson, Genesis, Guns n Roses.

The artists come and go so quickly now that There is nobody I really would go out of the way to see.

Upcoming gigs : Public Service Broadcasting and Duke Special.
Recent ones seen: When Rivers Meet, Royal Blood, Cadillac Three, The Damn Truth and various bands at Beautiful Days and Glastonbury festivals

Saw cadillac three a couple ofmyears back, albeit delayed as they'd caught covid or something. A great live act.

I got a day out coming up at the live show of War of the Worlds. A fellow bassist I know is an "understudy" and is depping for the regular bassist who'll be on his honeymoon, and he bunged a few tickets my way as he has no family of his own to give them too. He's promised that if he is ill or something he'll mention me as an emergency replacement - I'm still an MU member and know the parts, so I have just a few weeks to sneak this phial of botulism into his tea.

Sorry for the delay in reporting back. The Grand old Uke of York were excellent, as was the venue Nunnington Hall. However apparently there’s is normally about 15 of them but they could only get 6 of them on the stage. It’s was very much tongue in cheek humour with cover versions from the 60’s to current music.

Echobelly and Idlewild have both announced tours - Idlewild I've seen once 20+ years ago and Echobelly never. Though buying a ticket is dependent on me having some money left at the end of the month for frivolous items (car purchase wiped me out).

I do have tickets for Gabrielle, supported by Tunde Baiyewu of Lighthouse Family. Though that's a present for someone I'm taking I'm looking forward to it too.

March 7th Hillbilly Moon Explosion supported by the Zipheads.
HME are a Swiss band, The Zipheads are UK band, more Rock'n'Roll than Hillbilly, and the better of the two bands.

Tonight The Mary Wallopers. A bit disappointing, poor acoustics, poor lighting, expensive not very good beer, poor support band. At least they played a short set do I was home earlier than expected.

I asked AI to show the 'real' me.
The last gig I went to, one of the original band members came on with a zimmer frame and a CPAP machine. Am I getting old?
