Goldfinger, again. Second time in a week. It's 50 years old this year.

Also The Bourne Supremacy, 10 years old, hard to believe. Prefer The Bourne Identity though.

Ben Stiller occupies the same sort of niche as Nicholas Cage for me, occasional successes scattered amongst a lot of (mortgage paying I'd imagine) films.

That's the annoying thing about both of them. Easy to slag off, and rightly so, but they have been in some absolute gems (Cage in particular), meaning it's impossible to completely write them off.

I watched Ivan the Terrible(1944-45) by Sergei Eisenstein, music by Sergei Prokofiev. Also watched Plot of the Boyars,(1946) second in that projected trilogy. Third movie never was made, IIRC.

Another actor I absolutely cannot bear to look at is Jim Carey. As soon as I see his face that's it, I turn to another channel.
I finally saw The Truman Show at the PCC (a maths night, Truman Show + Evil Dead 2 + Scream = Cabin in the Woods) and thought it an amazing film, perfect example of seeing the bits you want in an actor and just taking those (likewise some of Robin Williams filmography). But unfettered Carey I can't stand. I can just about cope with the first Pet Detective, if I'm really in the mood and have surfed into it.

Captain America winter soldier. A bit silly but really enjoyable.
The Hobbit - the Desolation of Smaug. About an hour of padding too long and I'm definitely not going to sit through the next one. (Although I said this about the first one).
How furious did the end make you? I knew exactly what was about to happen, but could only sit there in impotent rage as Benedict Dragonbatch ruined my evening.

Jackson wants a serious word with himself for what he's done to that book. He's realised middle earth beautifully, but drags the films on for far, far too long. You could read The Hobbit quicker than you could watch the films!

I tend to agree, less martial arts, a tighter story line, and less padding would make the film much more coherent. That book can only be expected to fill one film. I suppose he'll have to do a three hour treatment of Farmer Giles of Ham next.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I watched the new X-men film. Can't remember what it's called. It was rubbish. They obviously couldn't think of a good or original storyline, so just made up some rubbish.

what a waste of time I'll never get back.

now editied.
