The Colour Purple - 7.5/10

Managed to keep the bleakness of the book and original film but added a colourful overlay of hope without feeling overwrought. Great choreography too.

Erin Brockovich. A cracker. Roberts is a revelation. "I'm really quite tired."
I watched it years ago and really enjoyed it.

I was reading something about Julia Roberts yesterday and thought that I would enjoy the film again. I discovered that Amazon Prime has it and just finished watching it. Recommended!

Take heed if you want to watch it on Prime... don't hang about - IT IS BEING REMOVED IN 3 DAYS TIME!

Ok technically it was Thursday night but we saw Poor Things at the cinema. Absolutely amazing film. Definitely go see it. Emma Stone must surely get an Oscar for her performance. Crazy film.
I think it's the only film I've ever seen where we've had a discussion group with total strangers in the cinema straight after it.

The 12th Man. True story of ww2 Norwegian resistance hero Jaan Baslsrud and the people who helped him in his escspe. Better than Age of Heroes by a long shot.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 9/10

Every bit as bonkers and weird as when I saw it as a kid, it was great to see it on the big screen (it's 50!). Not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely a firm favourite of mine; up there with Night of the Living Dead and Last House on the Left as modern horror pioneers.

Not Fade Away (2012)

Part of my quest to watch all of James Gandolfini's films is this drama from David Chase. Its a nice film about friends trying to start a band in the 60s, JG plays the father and honestly he kind flits between playing Tony Soprano (but in the 60s) and doing the characters own thing. Nothing too memorable here but not awful either.

The Big Lebowski, supposed to be a classic, son & myself watched then both said at the same time what on earth was that about?
The Dude ! ....If a man has a roof over his head, fresh half-and-half for his White Russians, a little weed and his bowling buddies, what more, really, does he need ?
It's a classic from the Coens makes me want to watch it again 😁
