Reservoir Dogs - 10/10

There's nothing to say about this film that hasn't already been said. It is as close to perfect as I can imagine. Tight, well written, uncluttered.

The part where Michael Madsen goes for a little stroll is absolute genius.

I thought I'd treat myself and watch this last night.

in 4K it's almost unwatchable! The opening scene in the restaurant seems completely false. When Harvey Keitel is driving the wounded Tim Roth back to the warehouse it's obvious they're only going about 5mph then when they get there, it's painfully clear it's a movie set. Gave up in the end.

Watched True Romance a few nights before though and it was excellent - again. The James Gandolfini scene in particular - wow!

Its Tarantino's best movie as far as I am concerned. I will never get bored of the Mr Pink, Mr Blonde and Mr White argument in the hideout scene. Sheer brilliance.

A Walk in the Woods.
Robert Redford and Nick Nolte in autibiographical film of the Bill Bryson book.
I was expecting some self indulgent hollywood baffoonery but it was sharper and smarter and quite enjoyable.

Big fan of True Romance, one of my favourite films, and I think Tarantino's best writing (although I do love the absolute insanity of Dusk til Dawn), but I'm glad he didn't get to direct it.

Once upon time in America - maybe the best movie about, well America. Friendship, betrayal, love, rape, opium dreams, prohibition, organised crime and trade unions, The Beatles and Morricone, Woods Vs De Niro.
Noodle's denial is a very thinly veiled allegory of America's own denial about its past
5/5

Good film but too long .....

PJ O' Rourke said the Marcos Palace 'looked like it had been decorated by Las Vegas interior designers forced to lower their standards at gunpoint.'

And when the taxman came round to get his money, all the Picassos, Mattisses and Whatnots had been replaced with photos of the Marcos family, making it even tackier.
