I really enjoyed the first episode of this. I agree about Travolta and I'm not yet 100% convinced by Cuba Gooding as OJ, but Sarah Paulson is fantastic and the guy playing Johnny Cochran is ace too. I've seen the second episode too which, if nothing else, brings home just how bonkers everything got. You really couldn't make this story up.Not a film, but the first episode of American Crime Story - 7/10
A dramatisation of the OJ trial, got off to a pretty good start.
This has Falchuck and Murphy all over it: direction, sound, set pieces, style of an era - all as skilful as what they achieved with Horror Story. They've got a good few of their favourite actors in there too, I think Paulson might once again steal the show.
However, John Travolta as Bobby Shapiro is just awful. It's like he's dead from the eyebrows down. A really distracting, almost cartoon villain performance. Which I suppose he is, but you can do that with a subtlety Travolta has always lacked.

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. A tremendously entertaining documentary about the Israeli cousins who made schlock movie after schlock movie after schlock movie and had a great time doing it.
don't we have a 'what documentary?' thread for these types of things?Again, not quite a film but...
Making a Murderer - 6/10
A solid but at times frustrating account of Steven Avery. It's a pretty damning critique of the American legal process, and the commitment of the filmmakers is impressive. But some parts are repetitive and it really could have used a narrator to move things along.
I've been thinking that a "What TV are you watching?" might be worthwhile, given the number of serialized dramas that pop up in this thread.don't we have a 'what documentary?' thread for these types of things?

Mission impossible. Rogue nation. I enjoyed the others but this is not as good. I cant put my finger on why. The Simon Pegg character does not work for one thing.
Stil,l as I am sat in a hotel room in Stavanger, it whiled away a few hours.
6/10.
Yeah, but noone ever goes there. Anyway, a fillum isn't not a fillum just because it's a documentary fillum.don't we have a 'what documentary?' thread for these types of things?
they would if it was posted inYeah, but noone ever goes there. ....
...and a superb script by William "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Marathon Man, All the President's Men" Goldman.
Is that the one with the mad Nazi dentist? You forgot the Princess Bride. Inconceivable!
