Only a three for Twins! ...the Arnie / DeVito double act is cracking.

I know what you mean, but I think it's fair in the context of 80s Arnie films.

If I had to order them it would be something like this:

Predator (8)
Terminator (8)
Total Recall (7)
Conan The Barbarian (7)
Commando (6)
Running Man (5)
Red Heat (4)
Raw Deal (4)
Red Sonja (3)
Twins (3)
Conan the Destroyer (1)

As for me, "The Broken Circle Breakdown"

Beautiful and sad, about life, love and almost unimaginable tragedy, with some great music.

Watched that Spectre last night.

After a very underwhelming pre-title sequence, Bond is back in a hum-drum adventure that other than a few good set peices, doesn't really live up to Skyfall or Casino Royale, but is a lot better than A Sontum of Qualace (that clanger will be hard to beat).

The Grey - 6/10

Liam Neeson and chums battle wolves and the wilderness after their plane crashes.

The action/fight scenes are very well shot and throw in some surprises but there are daft clichés which didn't need to be there. Feels like it could have been a great survival film but got morphed into a sort of blockbuster adventure along the way.

Mr Nice. A pretty dull telling of what must surely have been a more interesting story. 6/10?

Just starting band of brothers. First episode was very good indeed so it is living up to the high rating on IMDB and so on.
Really enjoyed that series immensely when it was first shown. Do watch 'The Pacific' afterwards, which is equally excellent.

(I remember being totally star-struck at the Edinburgh Film Festival way back in 2005 when I was waiting in the queue for a film, and turned round to find Damian Lewis standing behind me in the queue. I didn't speak to him of course, I was too gobsmacked! I just kept trying to mutter about who he was to my then-girlfriend who'd never see BoB).

I bumped elbows with Dexter Fletcher too a couple of years ago at the end of my street - they were shooting Sunshine on Leith and he jumped out of his little Director's 'booth' as I walked by and we collided lightly).

Tonight I watched 'The Rack Pack' - the iPlayer exclusive film about Alex Higgins and Steve Davis as snooker hit the big time in the 80s. I was never a snooker fan, but the film was interesting & entertaining enough. The 'Irish' accent used by the guy playing the Hurricane was a bit ropey, though!

Road Train - 3/10

Teenagers stranded in the outback fall under the spell of a massive demonic truck.

A promising idea which started well but quickly lost the plot. There's one section which is basically the same scene repeated with slight variations for 10 minutes, and large parts of it make absolutely no sense.

It would be a 1 but I added points for the soundtrack and the cinematography: both were better than the film deserved.

Generous rating.

Marks' book is brilliant, full of wit and detail. The film is a dreary affair.

He did a reading of it in Newcastle a few years back, pre smoking ban. That was a relaxing evening...
Indeed. I like to be nice. (See what I did there?) In truth a 4 or even 3 would probably be nearer the mark.
