For me it's the wide range of sweet and savoury seasonal pies :bravo:

+1

Oh, and time off work.

And a wider ange of sweet and savoury pies, if I didn't mention that already.

It means, this year, taking stock of the ups and downs of 2008 and hoping that 2009 has fewer downs.

Oh - and eating mince pies (the only time of the year we have them). So far I have eaten just one, but my resolve is weakening.

To me it means watching other people fussing around, getting stressed and trying to persuade them that it doesn't really matter - it's just another day after all.

Going for a walk with the misses and the dogs in the morning then spending the afternoon cooking and drinking. We haven't decided on our Christmas menu as yet, we'll be doing that over the next few weeks.

2 weeks of me retorting that "he who smelt it dealt it", or simply denying that it was me... (and then thinking up replies to "he who denied it supplied it" ;)
2 weeks of relative freedom (if we go visiting rellies, kids get together with their cousins and we can leave 'em to it, while me and bro' in law make a serious dent in his wine collection
2 weeks of not thinking about work
this xmas, I'll get to see my new niece (a month old) for the first time  (except in photees, obv!)

2 weeks of eating too much
2 weeks of drinking way way too much.
2 weeks of watching films I'd never watch any other time and enjoying
Catching up with folk I don't see the rest of the year (who I like)

What's this two weeks business? Are you all work averse builders ffs? ;)

Oh, that's right, you are.

It means hard work for me. And I've got three days off; Xmas, Boxing, NY.

Down to brothers for dinner on Christmas day. I have the three days before Christmas off as well as Christmas day and boxing day but I am rostered to be at work on New Years day
P.S. Has anybody who lives local to Noodley taken him any seasonal pies as he has gone quiet on the subject?

I am just returned from watching younger Noodlette appearing on stage in her school production of The Grumpy Sheep. It was rather heart warming seeing all the children singing and acting their hearts out, but most disappointing to find no seasonal fare on offer ;)

Another opportunity tomorrow with a Nativity performance. And next week with elder Noodley's concert. I may have to resort to taking my own seasonal pies....

I spied a quite magnificent looking pheasant pie in the local game dealers this afternoon. I had just eaten 2 pies and had hoped I would be sampling some more this evening so did not buy one. But, there is always tomorrow.
