What do you wear through autumn/winter to ride ?

Looking to continue through autumn and winter but want to make sure I am properly kitted out.

Bought some overshoes to try and help keep feet drier, have a couple of long sleeve base layers and some cycling tights but what about upper body wind/rain protection ?

What do you wear ? Don't want anything that is going to be flapping in the wind.

Merino base layer, short sleeve top over that, if it was really cold a thin jacket over that was what I got through last winter on, though to be fair it was a pretty mild winter.

A skull cap will help retain body heat and don't forget a decent pair of gloves.

Upper body - Endura BAA BAA Merino longsleeve base, Altura Night Vision Windproof Jacket covers everything except heavy downpours for which I replace the Altura Night Vision with an Altura Extreme Waterproof jacket.

It depends how windy/ rainy it is. One of my most used accessories is my arm (and leg) warmers, they turn a short sleeve into a long if you're out early/ until you warm up, and I've also worn them under a long sleeve jersey to keep things a bit warmer (it does work), apart from that it's guess work on whether you'll get rained on.
A stashable waterproof is also a great if the risk is high but not definite.
First time this year I've got a wind/ shower proof gillet- not sure how I'm going to use it yet though.

Thanks. I like the Altura gear. I think I will give the Night Vision Jacket a go. How do you find the sizing ? I take a large in the Altura Jerseys but do find them quite a tight fit ?

Thanks, yes I bought some arm warmers at the same time as the overshoes.

Hands, feet, face are the most difficult things to keep warm during winter rides.

Glove liners, thick socks and winter boots, buff and a skullcap all used by me and do a good job on those cold winter commutes

I am pretty much XL in Craft, Endura and Altura so I generally find them accurate but fairly close cut.

Over the winter here in Orkney it's:
Overshoes
Winter bib tights
waterproof jacket and trousers when needed
skull cap/ buff/ balaclava - although not all at once usually.
helmet cover
Wintergloves
good to go.

Dogtrousers

Kilometre nibbler
The one thing I spent real money on that was really worth it was a good pair of winter boots, worth every penny. The rest is just basically layers of stuff.

Barnet,
Some good gloves, I wear Altura Shield ones. Several layers. including a long sleeved top, A skull cap to keep the wind off of the bonce and ears. I also wear an Altura night vision waterproof jacket in the very cold or rainy weather. Don't forget the buff around your neck also. On the feet I wear some thick socks and overshoes in the wet.
