Stock Bianchi wheels tend to be Ambrosio/Miche so nothing to worry about there. That looks like an ultratorque crank as the 5th arm is the crank itself so you don't need to worry about bottom brackets. They say full Veloce, but as I say they skip on the hubs...I wouldn't be surprised if you get Bianchi branded brakes too.

I have a 9s Xenon via Nirone where the only bits of groupset were the derailleurs and Ergos - hubs, brakes, cables, chain, chainset, bottom bracket and even cassette were all Bianchi branded or Miche.

Oh, and while that stuff came with the bike in 2006, it isn't on it any longer. Wheels were the first thing to be changed, then cassette and chain, then chainset and now the brakes and cables.

Hi
Having checked the specification of the Bia Via Nirone y6820n16 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bianchi/via-nirone-alu-carbon-veloce-2008-road-bike-ec016053 it is not supplied with a full Veloce groupset and is not advertised as so. Initially it was spec'd with a FSA gossamer, however the manufacturer reserves the right to change the specifcation without prior notice. It seems what you have been supplied with is of an equal quality to the Fsa Gossamer.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact us

Kind Regards

Hmmm...does this say "please **** off"...seems like it to me. Anyway...reading the spec I guess they are correct, however the Title of the ad clearly states Veloce, i think thats misleading.

But it's still a cool bike like I said.

From Evans site:

FSA Gossamer MegaExo Compact - £149.99 reduced to £74.99

Mirage CT Chainset - £84.99 reduced to £64.99

The Veloce Compact - £94.99 reduced to £74.99

Either way you are not getting like for like. They are fobbing you off with a poorer cheaper alternative. Insist on the Veloce.

You were let down by Evans when they sold you a bike that is too small for you. Sorry to piss on your parade and that, but judging by your photo, they shouldn't have sold you that one.

Crap.
The bike fits me fine, it's comfy and a pleasure to ride. It is also the biggest frame size they have. The top tube lenghth is the same as my 64 dawes which is as long as I'd want it.

I like the bike. What size woulkd you have me on...they dont make bigger bikes...I am 6'3" tall and I am not a freak...although the cycling world would have me believe that.

The bianchi is a 61cm and the Dawes is a 64cm. Both have the same reach. I think people just arnt used to seeing 6'+ blokes on bikes...messes with the sense of proportion fueld by the cycling industrys marketing pics of miniature blokes on small bikes.

This from Evans sizing page:
6' 3" - 6' 6" 191 - 198 61 - 62 - 63XXL

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Basically it would appear that Bianchi are the naughty one - a quick look through the Evans' list indicates that the fitting of a complete groupset is a rarity at the lower end of their range - e.g. only a few of the 'Veloces' have Veloce brakes and chainset, as well as front/rear changers, otherwise the label given to the bike seems to relate mainly to the make and model of the rear changer. Really is very misleading. The higher priced bikes seem to have more complete groupsets however - certainly need to read the specs. very carefully

I agree 100%. It's to easy for Evans to blame Bianchi and leave the consumer without any recourse. The headline ad is very (and deliveratly I would say) misleading. Besides not all bike buyers are spec experts, at some point you have to trust a dealer...isnt that what dealer are for??...Just another reason why i cant trust LBS's
