Canon with Nikon? Dirty!
You have no idea how all the Canon/Nikon fanatics react to this. ^_^

A camera is a camera. When I took photos for a living I only chose Nikon because ANY Nikon lens works with pro Nikon cameras whereas the Canon system was bewildering complex.

When I shoot anything more serious than my cat my weapon of choice is a Mamiya 645. That is why I have considered moving from my Canon/Nikon hybrid to the Fuji X system. X-series bodies are pocketable, Fujinon lenses are comparable to Leica glass, and the exr sensor produces beautiful pictures. (The raw support is quite rubbish though.)

I bow to your superior knowledge, I was very much a jobbing snapper rather than someone who had any artistic or technical flair

All this time later the mention of Leica, Mamiya or Hassleblad still gives me a bit of a rush of blood!

Nowadays every 12-year old has a SLR. But still 99% of them can't get nothing decent out of it. I have a collection of fancy cameras and neither do I, but the reason for that is the size of my cameras... The best camera is the one with you.

And what comes to Hasselblad, I wish I had one. With the ugly greenish colour. And a Leica M4 with some light leaks for artistic hipster photos. (Both would probably end up collecting dust.)

I had (still do in fact) a VERY battered old second hand 'Blad' from 1967 (a 500C I think) which I got about 10 years ago when everyone was abandonning film and moving to digital. I loved that camera, but they also get very temperamental when old and worn out, and so, after having to get it repaired several times after 3 or 4 years of intensive use, I just let it retire on its own terms and used it until it fell apart and stopped one final time, quite literally.
I was told that once they 'go', they go and that's them, you need a new one, and mine had definitely 'went', so I decided to call time on it and go digital instead. It also coincided with me giving up photography seriously anyway, so it all had a nice finallity to it.

It is sat up the stairs, but unless I can somehow get it overhauled by Hasselblad, it wont be much use now so I suppose I should really put it on display. Maybe.

By the way Jussi, they made them in different colours for a while and I'm sure green was a colour they used!

The 500C is a lovely camera. Of course, to maintain it you would have to understand Swedish as the repair manuals are written in... well, Swedish. And as far as I know, parts are widely available from eBay. Restoring the camera could make an interesting project to spend a couple (hundred) of hours.

I'm not sure about the colour options of the 500C, but I do remember some coloured fake leather pistol grips though. They were available in bonkers colours like "Ferrari Red" etc.

I got it out and to my surprise it appeared to be working again so gave that satisfying ' CLUNK clic' noise once more (one of the problems it had when I was using it was that it would seize up) so, maybe I could get it done up once more, preferably properly this time for light use.

Also, regarding the Blads in different colours, I was referring to '503s (I think) they brought out about 10 or 12 years ago in different colours like blue, yellow and red instead of the standard black.
