Yup, and entirely justified too.

18 years of board, lodging and variably competent parenting, invested well I'd say.

Not to mention, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding etc etc.

That's got to be worth a beer or two surely??
Oh, all right. I'll ignore the faint whiff of nepotism. Enjoy your pints.

Do you not know the the legal requirements for opening up ?
Your not going to be able to walk in when you like it for some time to come. They have to control numbers so you have to book a time slot.
You also have to give them your contact details for track and trace which they legally have to hold for 21 days.
They are not the only ones to have these requirement either.
Heck! I only want one and a half pints of locally brewed mild beer. Perhaps i'll wait till we don't have to let

Yes i think i'll wait until the need to register and possibly be tracked has passed. Fair chance it will soonish i tend to think.
The local spoons seems to have taken the covering off its windows and i think there may be a new notice there. Will take a closer look next time i go past.
Planning some freecamping soon after the 4th.

On the need to register to use a pub i was told on a nice group bike ride today (groups of six, lunch as a distanced picnic with beer) that it isn"t actually mandatory. I did look in the window of a spoons in kingston and there was a long list of things they were doing and that they expected you to do as a customer. No mention of registering at all.
They did caution folks about capacity restrictions and noted that fridays and saturdays might be best avoided.
Mondays are the new Saturdays it said

Madness seems to be upon the nation. I shall most likely go for a cycle and take sufficient provisions to avoid any possibility whatever of needing to visit any retail establishment, public house or otherwise.

Most pubs just want a name and contact number on a written list .... so lots of M Mouse .07852 123456
Wetherspoons will require no information on their customers ... alledgley ..
The 4th is just another day for us .... nothing special ....

Guidelines for restaurants, pubs, bars state

"The opening up of the economy following the COVID-19 outbreak is being supported by NHS Test and Trace. You should assist this service by keeping a temporary record of your customers and visitors for 21 days, in a way that is manageable for your business, and assist NHS Test and Trace with requests for that data if needed. This could help contain clusters or outbreaks."

Then go's on to say ....

"Many businesses that take bookings already have systems for recording their customers and visitors – including restaurants, hotels, and hair salons. If you do not already do this, you should do so to help fight the virus. We will work with industry and relevant bodies to design this system in line with data protection legislation, and set out details shortly."

They also have to ensure that in door gatherings are limited to 2 households in support bubbles.
The same applies to outdoors but they can also include group of at most 6 people from any number of households. A gathering of more than 30 is illegal and if found then action can be taken.

It may not be law but if they look not to be playing ball and not limiting numbers or managing people waiting to get in or wanting to leave. Which it also say's they need to do the LA can will soon sort them out. As Local outbreaks are all down to them to manage and they have to carry the can.

VE Day, there's going to be a spike. No spike. Bank Holiday, there's going to be a spike. No spike. BLM demo's, there's going to be a spike. No spike. Beaches packed today, there's a pattern and next weekend will fine too. My fears for the 4th are that it's a Saturday and I wish this could be changed even at this late stage, as much as I like a good time, hearing what is planned even in my small social range, I am having second thoughts about going to Leeds, it's going to be absolutely crazy.

Yes, having listened to my party loving, youngest (43 year old) daughter's plans, I would agree.

I think an awful lot of people are planning to give 2 fingers to the Government on the 4th .....:smile: ?
I shall be taking care, but you may be right.
Trouble is of course that boris and his government have lost any moral authority on this since the cummings fiasco.
I'm amazed that i have heard no stories about folk challenging their fines for lockdown breaches. Are cases being hushed up?

Hello decadence
I think an awful lot of people are planning to give 2 fingers to the Government and everybody apart from themselves on the 4th... (those who haven't already been doing it!)
.....and of course those are the very people who will catch Covid and pass it on to their loved ones. I just wish they could chat to my junior doctor son who has been working on a Covid ward at a London teaching hospital and holding hands with people who have literally been drowning before dying.

Cheers everyone

I will be driving to Cornwall for a pre covid planned annual holiday . The holiday will be very different to normal . We are self catering in accommodation were social distancing is not an issue eating out won't be happening and beach visit will probably be done in the evening when less crowded . Cycling will happen though ^_^ . I have worked all through the lockdown so really ready for a break but we have cancelled the 2nd week as we feel a week will be longer enough as are normal day trips to various seaside villages and cafe lunches won't be happening . We plan to be out doing some walking in the more remote areas
