Did you soft southerners not have dinnerladies at school?
It was tea until my parents decided to posh.
Still tea with me.

I vote we drown him in the nearest duck pond?
ChrisKH said:Breakfast, Dinner, Tea when I was younger as main meal was in the middle of the day and last meal was between 4.00 pm and 6.00pm which, if I'm not mistaken, is tea time. Dinner hour at school was exactly that, an hour within which to consume school dinner.
Now Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner as I have a lunch break and a bigger meal in the evening. I still tend to call lunchtime dinner though and get corrected by all the posh twats at work.
Supper's for people who still have tea at tea time but can't wait until breakfast for their next meal.![]()

Although tea would be most likely if I'd had a main meal at lunchtime, and was only having toast or something like that.
Supper is a bedtime snack. Crisp sandwiches were a childhood favourite. But you can never take them as a packed lunch, unless you enjoy soggy crisps.
