what did you wear ?

I got into cycling after a knee injury from running so I use most of my lycra running gear with cycle shorts under my leggings. I have purchased an Altura rain jacket and Aldi 3/4 capris this year. It doesn't matter what you wear as long as you are comfortable and other road users can see you.

When I first started road cycling I had a hoodie, a cheap pair of lycra shorts from Sports Direct and a pair of vans trainers. Over a few months I managed to convince myself to purchase bib shorts, road cycling shoes, cleats and a selection of jerseys.

when you first started out.
I have bought some cycling shorts and a VERY bright pink top that is supposed to help with the sweating thing;
There is no way i could wear T shirt yet but shorts yes, but i need something to go over them - bum looks bigger than ever in them
At the moment i wear track suit pants tucked into my socks (i have no chain cover thingy) a T shirt and trainers;
So if you are cycling in france and see a wobbly old lady wearing salmon pink pants and a pink baseball cap do say hello xxxxx
Some form of padded shorts is necessary for a medium or long ride, but if you're not a lycra fan then you can get some undershorts to wear under baggier clothing. Sports bras are more wicking than normal ones, especially good in the summer, but not essential. I still use the same shorts and jersey I bought in sports direct when I started although I do check before every ride to make sure they're not see-through! Equally a generic sports top is also fine if you have somewhere else to put things like a spare inner tube.
Good luck and enjoy your cycling!
