Actually, there's no need to head for Amazon, I'll stick with the Tallis that I already have,NickM said:Now That's What I Call Tallis, volume 43 is supposed to be pretty good.

Yes, it's generally a fruitless exercise.Dave5N said:I don't doubt it for a moment.
Bet you get a thin time looking through other people's CD collections though...

Who was it who said it sounds like a "fire in a zoo"? I've tried listening to jazz, but tbh can't get into it at all, and lifes too short to waste been worthy for the sake of it. I know talk of 'jazz' is a nonsense for music that spans a century with god knows how many sub-genres, but generally it means stuff to not bother with. Have a couple of Jango Reinhart lps kicking about somewhere enjoy listening too, but that's about the sum of it.Fnaar said:I love jazz (especially from/inspired by 30s, 40s 50s, mebbe a bit of 60s), but modern jazz is mostly cak (he said authoritatively)... that coukld be incidental music to a bad cowboy film, or perhaps Casualty
Flying_Monkey said:I have three of Chromatic's choices - in fact I have almost everything Can ever did, and a couple of Faust LPs, something by Neu, plenty of Kraftwerk, and lots of stuff by bands influenced by them, including Stereolab and Appliance. I could have made a list of five just from them.
Can were one of the most important European bands of the late 60s and early 70s (and beyond), and they are hardly obscure... to people who like music!
Uncle Mort said:Can even appeared on Top Of The Pops - I don't think Faust would've stood much of a chance though
Chromatic said:Flying Monkey, you don't happen to have a copy of Onlyou do you? I'd be interested to have a chat if you have.
It was a bit of a long shot considering what it is. It wasn't a compilation as such in that the material is unavailable elsewhere, it was a cassette only release in a limited edition of, iirc, 200 copies, so there aren't many out there. It is out there on the web, I have found a site where it appears to be available as mp3 files but it is a p2p thing and I know nothing about that sort of stuff, plus our IT bod would be none too pleased if I attempted to download what is says is the necessary software to access it and caused mayhem. I can give you site address if you are interested.Flying_Monkey said:Except that! I was exaggerating - in fact, I don't have any of their things that were released in the 1980s apart from the Canibalism compilations actually. Actually, I don't know anyone who has Onlyou... it's another compilation isn't it? My favourite Can album is Ege Bamyasi, closely followed by Monster Movie, their first one.
