My goal is to just stay motivated, and remember that awesome feeling when I realised that when it comes to cycling my general lack of fitness wasn't the barrier that I had thought it would be. If I'm still regularly cycling this time next year at least it will have turned from a fad into a phase and then who knows

Sounds the right thing to do, you want to be able to enjoy it. I pulled out last year on medical advice, but given the circumstances and weather, I'm glad! I've got a late start (8.48, last is 9) so I'm now concerned about having enough time to complete! Although I guess if we get detoured past Leith Hill I won't be crying! I would have liked to do a bit more training and lost another half a stone at least but hopefully it won't kill me!

Goal this year (as it was in the last two years where Injuries and lack of training stopped me going for it) is to get 100 miles under my belt.

Booked in for a Charity Ride at the end of August to do just that, so far injury free and riding faster over longer distances than ever before. Only up to 62 miles so far so hoping to push that up in the next month to around 80ish. I'm feeling a lot stronger and fitter than I have for years (and it's showing on Strava) but finding the idea of 100 miles a bit daunting at the moment

I haven't done as much as I would like due to problem shoulder (not related to cycling but stopped me when it was at it's worse) and doing my house up to sell.

I realised this week it's over two months since I did my first thirty miler, and I haven't tried again since. So I think I might aim to complete a forty miler by the end of July and perhaps fifty by the end of August (though would need a dog sitter for that one at my pace!).

I have several goals for this year - some completed, some still to do

1) 2000 miles this year - just over half done
2) go on a club run - completed
3) go on a cycle tour - completed
4) commute at least once a week and ultimately give up the car - needs more work

Great to hear all your goals, very inspiring!

I came off going round a corner downhill when I hit some unexpected gravel earlier this week, didn't feel too bad at the time but it really showed on this morning's ride - stiff, sore and ready to get off and call home for the 'team car' to pick me up after about 10 miles  (I didn't, cause I'm stubborn, but desperately wanted to - if someone I knew had happened to drive past I would have flagged them down and forced my bike in their car)

You've given me some more motivation to have another go Saturday, gonna have tomorrow off as a rest day so hopefully that'll help as well

Ah, commiserations. I've been riding decades and sliding off never feels any better (my last was eighteen months ago, on ice, on a day when the smart move would have been to ride later). You just get better at avoiding it, I think.
