What are the most common bicycles in the UK?

Hi, could anyone tell me roughly the most common bicycles used in the UK? For example, fixies, folding, cross etc. Thanks!

It came from a thread a couple of years back started by @SatNavSaysStraightOn

My OH likes to classify cyclists and their styles. The 2 obvious ones are the

• pigeon (head/head & shoulders back and forward)
• penguin (head/head & shoulders rocking side to side)

However, he is stumped. We have come across another one this evening and about the only thing that could be said for it is it was ungamely, cost a lot of energy for getting nowhere fast and well was just wrong. About the only thing that really stayed still was the guy's head... arms, legs and bike seemed to be all over the place (and it wasn't the bike rocking side to side in a 'pros trying hard' manner) and my OH is stumped as to what to classify it as. Gibbon was one thought, but we are not sure...

So I was wondering, does anyone else mischievously classify others' cycling styles and if so, what ones do you have?

Bikes that stay in the shed/garage, don't get love, and don't get ridden more than once in a blue moon. Very, very common. (Acknowledge this answer could be discounted on the basis that these bikes are NOT 'used'.)

Serious answer for a mo OP, +1 to this, Certainly in towns/urban environments, Mountain Bikes from supermarket/generic sports store outlets or bottom of the range 'name' manufacturers, many of which would struggle to make it up a steep kerb let alone a mountain, quite often with dreadful suspension set to bouncy castle mode.

BMX types are still very popular amongst the younger element.

University sector of Manchester has a more eclectic mix with many hybrids, old 70s/80s drop bar racer types and step through frames, often old looking battered and well loved/not very attractive to thieves.
