I have just been very tempted with marmite crisps but had an apple instead, that's what the site is helping me do - think amount how many cals are left (or not!) at the nibbling end of the day. I also (at least for the moment) seem to have stopped eating that extra meal at 4pm when I get in from work. Next Weigh in thursday for me.

you'll get there, Willow

I am 14st 7 at the mo, want to lose at least a stone off that. To do so I will sign up for the Pendle Pedal and train after work on some nasty hills local to Preston. I didn't do any sportives last year, so didn't train & so gained weight. I don't lose weight without a difficult goal to train for.

Might look into getting some appropriate shoes to try fell-trotting (well I'm not going to run up Lakeland mountains!) to do every 600m point in the Lakes. Off to Pete Bland's in Kendal sometime. Have taken up swimming too.

I don't think that we should be making excuses, but I can't help thinking that two crap UK summers in a row have got a lot to do with us gaining weight.

It's much easier to find the motivation to get out on the bike when the sun is shining. I rode from Hebden Bridge to Coventry in mid-June 2007 and I was wearing full winter kit for half the ride... ;)

Willow is struggling 3 bad days and needs to be back on track - how are the rest of you getting on, some positive vibes would be good.

I am staying the same weight , but I am eating less, and eating more healthily. My clothes feel looser, so I think I am gaining some muscle from the Pilates. Also, in Pilates, this week, managed to bend at the waist and touch my toes with my legs very very nearly straight, and do some of the moves that were impossible six weeks ago. I am doing more walking and less eating of crisps. I just wish this hard work was reflected in the scales.

I would suggest that just because you have had three bad days, which we all have, do not let this become five or six bad days. Easy for me to say, and I know how hard it is to put into practice.

I was eating less and incredibly healthily, just checked my calories today - 1000 over plan!! Weather has conspired against me being organised on the food front this week, so that's the aim for tomorrow a bit more planning. Will do the plan when children tucked up for the night.

Bad days (or even the odd week) are not to be worried about - the main thing is that you get back on track when you can! It's good to have the occasional blow-out

Also, the current weather doesn't encourage us to get out and about - we are biologically programmed to go into semi-hibernation during the winter months

Hi Willow. I just thought I'd ask how you are getting on - are you back on track now?

I'm doing quite well generally, though I'm about to cheat by going to the shops for some beer. It's my treat on a Saturday evening, but I went to the pub earlier in the week to catch up with some old friends and I used up my weekly beer ration then. Never mind, I only go out 4 or 5 times a year now so I don't think that that is going to add up to much in the great scheme of things.

I think the occasional treat is a good idea, otherwise the desire for one builds to the point where one's resolve eventually snaps.

was 252lbs in Oct08, then 245lbs on 05/01/09, last weigh in 236lbs on 02/02/09........next weigh in due 02/03/09, last couple of weeks weather hasn't helped, kept me off bike, though I think failing to dodge a kebab and various choccie biscuits has probably done more harm:blush:

Buy a good pair of trousers a size too small and see how long it takes til they fit you

I took my own advice and bought the pair of size too small jeans....and they now fit me...and I have still been eating pies, kebabs, curries, etc.

And my exercise has not been too much.

So it is possible without too much hassle.

I have lost 12lb in a month.

Hi just spotted this. I'm not doing well again. Why is it it all starts great, full of enthusiasm then bang and off the rails again. I'll be weighing tomorrow but I almost back to square one. Would help if I could get on the bike a bit more, hopefully the weather has now perked up and my 1-0 yr old will be back on his bike for school leaving me to cycle again. Thanks for asking. Sounds like you are still doing ok, well done.

put on a stone a bit in the summer, three weeks hols and a month off the bike and not only did it not shift, it crept up a bit, I think I've gotthebike set up wekk now and it's simply less effort than it was

anyhow, I've tried to push myself a bit harder and I do my best to sprint across London bridge at the end of my journey

weight's slowly going, back down to 15st6lb from 15st10lb and looking better in the mirror, which is the best test I always figure

good luck all
