I've got some Altura Kinetic gloves which are windproof and not heavily insulated, with gel padded palms, they keep my hands dry in all but the worst prolonged rain. Also Sealskin MTB gloves are waterproof with gel palms, but not too insulated, might be worth a look. Not sure about how they perform in the kitchen though.
