So after days of waiting for all sorts of things to break down the rust I finally got everything apart
Have cleaned up all the frame, chainguard, mudguards and the chainset. Most of the rust was superfical.
Handlebars are beyond saving .
Wheels . Need work
Break rods for the front break are not great but back ones look like Ill be able to get them back to full working order ;-)
Now onto stripping No.2

So in the last 4 days I have got a Raleigh Roadster thats from the Irish Factory, needs a break rod and a chain guard and these 2 - full bike has duplex fork:

Total cost is euro equivalent of £30.

I don't collect until the weekend and the pics are not great but if anyone can identify it would be great.
You're only mad if £30 matters to you.

If you have sacrificed food for the week, then yes, you are two sandwiches short of a picnic.

Keep at it, there's times you'll want to hacksaw it into bits and throw it in the local brook but walk away and come back in a day or so and look at it in a different frame of mind and it'll come good. I repainted my ridge and had a couple of little runs in the finish. Mentioned it to the old lass in the lbs I go to and she said not to worry they came from the factory like that in the 50s

Classic . Not understand what your asking.
I just stuck it back together for the Photo. Lacking space to lay it out. Everything came apart in the end. I have to get 1 wheel replacement .And front
break u is a bit shook.
. Having a great time trying to clean the chrome bits.
Soaking in Brasso and then heating until it burns off seems to be the trick.
Now I understand why Old Soldiers heated their buttons.

Any paper in either the seat post/tube or the head tube?

Heavy waxed/greased paper with the owners details on it.

20150616_234811.jpg So We are finally ready for road. Had to get new wheels. After much cleaning the old ones had are just not Road Worthy. A Fellow High Nelly Enthusiast was the source of the parts of the breaks and handlebars that I needed.
Have started on the 2nd bike and thankfully will be able to source the bits the same way. NoS would have cost me alot more.

Lovely! I've just been out for a little spin on my old Roadster, they're great fun (if you're not in a hurry!). Good luck with the 2nd one

Had my first spin into the village this evening understand how fit people were when they cycled these everywhere.

I doubt that one is salvageable.
It all stripped and painted. Have sourced the few bits I need and am hopeful of getting my hands on a decent set of used wheels (this will not get as much work)
Then its just rebuild

Also my neighbour saw the Humber this eve and announced there are 4 old bikes in a room in the old house on the farm. Said I could have a look and take what I wanted. Ill have a look tomorrow.
