I was expecting great things from these tyres, developed for/from Paris Roubaix, light, fast good reviews yadda yadda ....
And they look good, roll well, grip and ride well, but their resistance to P*nctures is appaling frankly.
Yesterday morning Oxfordshire's roads were wet and skoggy, the lanes over the hills particularly so. Between Abingdon and Henley I had 4 deflations, the first just 5 miles from home.

Front Wheel - Flint - Patched with glueless patch
Rear wheel, failiure of Park-tools glueless patch from P* from last ride (still stuck but hole had blown through the patch material despite a thin boot in the tyre). Replaced tube.
Rear P* Flint - patched
Rear P* Possible pinch from repairing previous bloody P* so maybe a bit self inflicted.

They are clearly not dealing with flints and despite pretty low mileage are really cut-up and the rear shows surprising wear.
It also meant I had to find a shop in Henley to buy 2 more tubes (another tenner) in case a further P* was unpatchable.
As I was en-route to Sarf Lundun for lunch at MIL's I ended up being 90 mins late despite giving it the beans past Henley. Fortunately Berkshire's and greater Lahndun's roads are better maintained than Oxfordshires and I had no more issues, but took it carefully.

So they're going in the bin. They were not cheap but they have cost a fortune in tubes, patches and time by the roadside.

Replacements?
Thinking either Conti 4 Seasons or Duranos.
Pasela TG as a cheaper outsider.

The Vittoria rubinos fare well for a £10 tyre

Flints will usually go through any tyre - even expensive ones. The weird thing is, when I used to ride up around Henley & the Chilterns back in the 90s, I used to mainly ride around on Open Paves. Never an issue.

You need to move to somewhere less flinty. It will be cheaper in the long run ^_^

Seriously though, I've been running Vittoria Rubino Pro's on two bikes throughout the Spring & Summer and, fingers crossed, no issues so far (that's the kiss of death for my next ride).

Like them too, and last time I checked Amazon were still doing them in 23 width for £9.99. I stocked up on four.

Open Pave CGs (v.III) are a very nice tyre, but I only run the 27mm version on the front in autumn/winter as they are not as robust as Continental tyres, IME. That said, they do inspire confidence when it's wet and they roll really nicely with the 320 TPI casing.

Been on these since March with no punctures although they have cut up badly,I did make an effort to check the cuts for embedded bits and then put rubber glue over them.

The rear has worn quite a bit and the front now has a sidewall cut although it's not gone through to the tube but I don't think they are meant to be a long lasting tyre like a Durano. They do roll nicely and take rough roads in their stride(esp re-surfaced loose chipped roads)

Have now changed to Clement Strada LGG(120tpi) and will see how they go.No probs on yesterdays sportive where there seemed to be quite a few with punctures.

The paves will be put on the Icarus will prob put a boot where the sidewall cut is and will run them until they wear out.

Oh and the paves were used with latex tubes.

Good - I had 3 arrive about 10 minutes ago! :okay:

(I wanted to give 25C tyres a go on my Cannondale road bike and to bling it up a bit with ones so I took advantage of Chain Reaction's clearance sale and bought £100 worth of stuff to get a £15 discount on top of the sale-discounted prices.)

I've not personally used them as I like smooth tyres aesthetically but my ride buddy does a lot of miles with few visits

also available in orange
I've been impressed with the Duranos I've had on most recently. Grip well in the wet and resistant to any visits so far and I've done a fair few miles on them too. Can't say how many as I can't remember when I fitted them on, but it's been since last autumn (1500ish miles?). My only complaint with them is they feel a little 'dead', compared to the Vredsteins that were on previously.

Conti 4 Seasons get my vote. I've never owned any but I ran my GPS 4000s II through winter on some really shitty country lanes and I can't remember the last puncture I had. They've worn well too and provide plenty of grip. Not the cheapest tyres but you can get some good deals on them if you look around. I'll be getting 4 Seasons next for sure.

For the trike then, Colin?!!!!!
I was adding extra things to my shopping list to get to a £99+ total and save £15 so I bought a 3rd tyre for a spare.

My usual tyres are Lithion 2s which cost about £3 more and I wanted to see if these were similar in performance. If they are any good, then at £10 they are a bargain. At that price I would probably replace tyres before they start developing bald patches.
