I've been gaming since the Speccy 48K days, really more casual these days. Mainly handheld Steam Deck OLED and Xbox series X on the 48" telly. The "family laptop" is now a decent spec gaming laptop, and I dabble on that from time to time. I'm a dabbler generally, and it goes in phases ^_^

I've dabbled in flight sims like TFX in the DOS days, most recently IL2: Sturmovik but didn't get very far with the learning curve! I also put a lot of hours into Elite Dangerous during Covid. Even bought a cheap HOTAS control. VR would be awesome for that game. I very rarely play online, since the days of Unreal Tournament on a dialup modem!

I dabble in strategy games like AoE2 and the Total War series (Shogun 2 was given away free during Covid!). I've dabbled in driving games. From Need for Speed 1 on a 486 PC, through GTA 1-4 on PS1 and PS2, Grand Prix Legends on PC in the voodoo 3 era. I had a USB force feedback wheel and pedals back in the day on the PC Now that was a game with a steep learning curve! I found the CD a while ago and would be cool if it would run on a modern PC but I haven't tried. That would 100% need a wheel and pedals though. These days I mess about with Forza occasionally on the Xbox.

I'd love to have a dedicated setup with pedals and huge screen and/or multi-screen and/or VR but other things are higher priority at the moment.

Same here (probably forever 😭...

Some modern games go all out on graphics and end up lacking elsewhere. Starfield (from Bethesda) looked amazing but ended up being disapointing to me in other ways. I've ended up going back to Fallout 4 (still an amzing looking game) simply because it plays much more how I want.
