There's no mention of the driver stopping, is it a drive off then?
Several members of my club have ridden with or raced against Aidan. His club, 360, take part in a lot of the local events.

There hasn't been any mention of this being a hit and run. He was on a group ride, if it was hit and run I think this would be local common knowledge by now.

Terrible! Another road cyclist killed on an east Lancashire road! This time a bloke in his late 50's riding his road bike has been hit and killed, with the three in the offending vehicle arrested at the scene.

Shocking. Quite why they need to describe a bicycle by its construction material is beyond me. Riding a "carbon fibre racing bike"... When I'm knocked off I can't wait for them describe my elephant bike... deary me.

Poor chap. RIP.

I suppose they could say it gives the readers an impression of the type of cyclist unfortunately killed. My thoughts on reading the cyclist was riding a carbon fiber bike are it'll be someone most likely clued up about road safety and conditions who knew what they were doing, rather than someone pootling around on a mountain bike or similar. Some will say on hearing 'carbon fiber bike' that he'll have been speeding, taking risks, while some like me will think clued up roadie who's been killed by a speeding, or drunk, or drugged up motorist. 🤔

My thoughts too. Pity they could balance the article with big metal two tonne vehicle collides with carbon fiber racing bike...

Another poor fella or woman who sets off on maybe their daily training run who'll have been thinking simple things about what they're going to have for their tea that night, or thinking about going for a pint that night, then BANG!! they're gone!!!

You can’t draw up any conclusion about the victim from the frame material. Just like if a pedestrian was killed, and a newspaper said victim wearing a red dress, I couldn’t draw any inference about them.

I think it's just a tribute to the victim and that's it. It's a bit sad that there aren't any readers comments following the article, like his death was 'just one of those things'. They kick off about anything in that paper, but seem to think a cyclist being killed by a dangerous driver is insignificant, so they don't have an opinion about it.

I heard on the local radio yesterday that there had been a fatal 'accident' earlier in the day between a cyclist and a car. I've just seen the report below. How tragic and sad that such a promising young cyclist passed away at such a young age.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/24903628.tributes-pour-man-18-died-hoddlesden-crash/

I've just been talking to a road cyclist who does many rides, both in Britain and Europe telling me he does about 15,000 miles a year, so he knows his stuff, if you know what I mean! He told me that according to his fellow road club members, some of who knew the lad and his parents, the above died after hitting a pothole at about 16mph then falling off his bike tragically into the path of an oncoming vehicle. He said the driver of that vehicle is no way to blame for this lad's tragic death and is said to be extremely distraught!
