There's no mention of the driver stopping, is it a drive off then?

No idea. I just heard about it on Radio Lancashire, then saw the sad news when looking at the local newspaper online. I suppose there'll be more information in tomorrow's paper.

It is indeed very sad even more so when it’s a young person. I have been never a huge fan of riding on the road as such anyway but since I got knocked over by a driver couple of years ago my confidence has been dented even more!

A good point well made, @Ajax Bay !
Please keep helmet debates to the thread specifically for them
EDIT - Helmet debating has been edited out.

The mods have been in and amended/deleted all the posts with 'helmets' in (thank you @TheDoctor ). So you can't appreciate the context - feel free to delete.
I linked the helmet debate thread (yes 9 years old) not Post #1 therein!
I chose not to assume what this superb young cyclist was or was not wearing and am just super sad for his family, friends and all the local and wider cyclists.

Every time i see these types of threads, especially involving youngsters i do get a tightness in my throat. Absolutely tragic. He seemed a popular young man going by various comments out there, with a passion for helping others.

Several members of my club have ridden with or raced against Aidan. His club, 360, take part in a lot of the local events.

There hasn't been any mention of this being a hit and run. He was on a group ride, if it was hit and run I think this would be local common knowledge by now.
