lol (?), no. Its a Socket 775 running an Intel 6600 (Duo). My HDD's have speed results of >160MB/s. I built it a few years ago.
I think its the MUVI thats slow, not my PC.

sounds like usb 1 speeds.. so maybe the muvi's isn't a usb 2.0 device ;)

I bought an MD80 clone from Ebay for under £12 and have been astonished by it. Although the resolution is way below my ContourHD, the difference in sharpness and detail resolution on a 24" PC-size screen is marginal. If anything, things like car number plates are slightly easier to read than the ContourHD. It also handles low light conditions far better.

Disadvantages - the Ebay clones have a date stamp that can't be removed, the battery isn't replaceable for long use, recording will not automatically resume with a new file after the 4gb fat32 limit is reached and the build quality is very flimsy. Viewed on a large TV the lower resolution is very apparent compared to the ContourHD. However, at a fraction of the ContourHD's price, these are trivial criticisms.

The video hardware in my clone, spca1528, seems to be the same as the version 3 keyring camera described here Case is obviously different but everything else is very similar

Anyone thinking of a ContourHD should bear in mind that mine is the 720p version - footage I've seen from the 1080p newer version looks a lot sharper and has very good colour balance. The ContourHD is also much more rugged so you do get what you pay for to a certain extent. Also, I must emphasise, my MD80 is not the Veho Muvi , just a clone in a similar design case.

John

[Edit]: The MD80 can also be used as a webcam. I used the driver linked from the keyring camera webpage and it worked fine on 64bit Windows 7. Plugged it in, pressed the Mode button, let Windows sort out searching for drivers and that was it.

I thought with the clones you could make some text file to do it or something?

This can be done with some keyring camera variants (of what is inside the case) but not yet with the MD80 ones off Ebay. The keyring page link above shows the differences between the various versions.

I'm reasonably confident that the hardware inside mine corresponds to the version 3 variant described there, which has no method for removing the datestamp. The hardware and video specs are identical and the drivers work fine with mine, even though the case is completely different.

Who did you buy off? The one I bought off ebay records staggered images at night. Some seem hit and miss.

Is this with the push buttons?

I've been doing some experimenting and my night-time shots are sometimes ok and sometimes jerky. Haven't figured out why that is but perhaps there is a critical brightness level at which it drops frames.

What I have found is that my ContourHD, now the settings are adjustable on the new firmware for the 720p version, does a much better job at night (less grain) but it needs the brightness setting maxed out. The trouble is that you have to adjust this via a PC so daytime and night use during one day is out.

yup a real pain, i have to change the settings twice a day so i get a good image. But the quality is so much better.

For those of you who have seen my review of the waterproof case
View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pLLSmkijuI
i mention that the clasp is quite hard to open. It broke on me today, the plastic clasp split in half and is now useless. Spoke to technical who have requested that i send it back. Hopefully they will do a quick turnaround and i hope that mine was from a faulty batch and my replacement is a bit more sturdier. back to using the clear cd cover as an alternative, but it works quite well anyway.

Can anyone post some pics on theirs mounted on the handlebar?

I've read the FAQ on the Veho site but every time I try there's a 2" strip of velcro left that doesn't stick to the rest.

I havent got the camera at hand to get a pic, but I have the "crocodile clip" mount clipped onto the tie wrap that holds the sensor for the computer on the front forks. I know its not on the handlebars but the footage comes out decent.

I've never tried, but I'd imagine it would attach in a similar way to the helmet mount, other than you'd use the different slots in the mount. Possibly might want a bit of rubber underneath so the camera doesn't slip around, as that might be a possible problem.

Sorry that's all I can offer

edit:: just re-read...you're trying to attach it?

If I was doing it I would use the Velcro straps and put it in the slots which are on either side of the shorter width (if that makes sense - rather than at either end). Put that around...you shouldn't need to use every strap supplied.
