Now you’ve broken the hangar. You may as well unbolt the derailleur from it and remove hangar. Can you get wheel in without hangar or derailleur in place? Don’t use lots of force as you clearly did recently to break hangar.

Ask your mate to try? Has he never put the wheel on it?
There can be a knack with some, on my steel frame I have to ease the drop outs slightly apart for the QR to seat :smile:

How do you know it's the right length if you haven't got it fitted in?

It's was all fitted , working well been on a couple of medium length rides all good , I took the back wheel off to fit a little grommet on the down tube and had a Gordon Ramsey trying to get the back wheel back on and pop went hanger

PS looks like frame clearance is tight - slightly too big tyres allowing you to get the axel in properly ?

I have a very tight race frame that I can't go bigger than 25c - just 4-5mm brake caliper clearance.

Deflate tyre ?

You know what that's it , the wheel was up against the brake blocks that's why it wouldn't drop in , that's the reason......hallelujah
