Seriously that my new commute is less than 4 miles a day and is no less incident packed than my previous 20 miler.
I agree!! I Commute 5.5 miles in too work and between 5.5 to 65 miles back depending on mood and there isn't a ride go by where some one doesn't try too send me too my maker! Regardless of distance. That said, I nearly took my self out a couple of times fast wet bends, flooded fords etc :P but that's another story :-D

Hi All,

All I can say is that we're not up to stitch anyone up, just interested in long journeys to work by bike. That's it.

Nathan
What is considered a long journey & extreme cycling? Used to do 200 miles a weekend, same trip twice a day each way what ever the weather. Also working outside once at work.

i commute 100 miles a day along indian cliff tops in a just an old t shirt and ripped trousers bare foot carrying my school clothes on the back of my bike fighting gusts coming up over the mountains, not sure if it is extreme though?

or was it a 15 mile round trip down british mainly country roads and a small section of a road?
Cheers Ed

If it was bare foot with SPD MTB pedals then it was pretty extreme :P

I would just like to say that I don't make a habit of this type of extreme behavior :P And of course there's the considerate motorists doing there soiree through your puddle at close proximity!

Thanks for all these guys, we've had a few come through to the inbox which have been great stories. On a slightly different angle we're also doing an item about dangerous roads for cyclists, possibly going to feature Elephant and Castle Roundabout in London, but what do you guys think?

It's the Bow Roundabout I think you need to concentrate on. Probably the single worse piece of cycling/road infrastructure in London

If the beeb sensationalised it, god knows what C5 will do.

I hope any cyclist with a camera thinks very carefully before agreeing to do anything with the media.

Agree about Bow.

Please also focus on the victims and the poor justice system if you DO attempt a program on dangers.

These are important cases imvho:

With a focus on how Dutch infra can help with a seachange in the funding. Speak to David Hembrow who writes this excellent blog http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/

Too many programs on this subject have been pretty simplistic - I think viewers are more than capable of learning more and how it can benefit themselves if we get things right
