I have recently tilted my seat downwards ever so slightly. I cannot believe the difference it made. Especially with certain areas going numb. Much more comfortable

If your saddle needs tilting nose down or nose up in order to be comfortable, then you have the wrong saddle.

I'm running Vittoria rubino pro's done about 2500 MLS and still going strong . Seat level but I think that's a personal thing you've just got to play around with .

I had it level for a long while. Only tilted down a little to experiment really. Definitely will not be going back,..... just takes the pressure off that area enough to make the ride more comfy.
The Rubino tyre seems to be a very popular choice amongst you guys. Will have a read up on them

The correct saddle will not need tilting - that's the point I'm making. In any case, a downward tilt will put more pressure on your knees.

If you can't get comfortable on a normal setup, then all you are doing is transferring the problems elsewhere.
Iv had trouble with my knees for the last few rides. That was until I tilted my seat. In any case , the tilt was literally 10mm or so....hardly drastic !!!
Some previous posts on this thread see it as a personal choice and it most certainly is.
It was a trial thing that worked for me and iv never been more comfortable on the bike. Iv known guys go for a professional bike fit and come away with the seat level (as recommended) , only to change it after miles ridden due to not feeling right.
Perhaps over time I will put it level again but for now it works for me. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your advice @Dusty Bin as I'm sure you have been riding a hell of a lot longer than I have, but surely this is personal preference ?

If I could afford a pro bike fit, I most definitely would go for it. At the present time it's not an option unfortunately. .......so I went to YouTube lol.
As you know, round here there is not many roads to go all out aggressive and quick, so comfort is the order of the day. I also took the video's advice to flip the stem to make me a bit more upright. Early days but all well so far.
Forgot you were local dusty :cycle:

Yeah just looked at them. Look tidy. What they like ?
good grip had no problems with punctures up to now ( might be tempting fate having said that ) Shwalbe do one with yellow walls to and they have a Kevlar puncture protective layer but can't say how good they are .

Rubino Pros here too..........they've been great (so far!). 1500 miles and no fairy visits...look like new! Depends a lot on your riding style/road conditions though. I think. also how many skiddies you pull and whether or not you take them off every evening and take them to bed with you?
I know I do.

Saddle tilt............hhmmm.........well I'd LIKe to try it level - but annoyingly - the serrations on my so-called micro adjust seat tube will only allow it to be set slightly up or down. Of the two I prefer slightly down. Much depends on yer gonads.

Well now, that's a bit of a sweeping statement, for most saddles you are correct but not for all, I know of 2 without having to think too hard about it that recommend a tilt, one up and one down.
