It's not very intelligent, it thinks I'm the bestest cyclist ever.

Who has access to Athlete Intelligence beta?

Strava subscribers and athletes with a free trial.

Ah Good...

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I'm still mildly irritated at the the term 'athlete', describing me.
At least it was not 'elite athlete'! :okay:

I had a doctor describe me as an 'elite athlete' on several occasions... This was when I was 56 years old, overweight, unfit, and three quarters dead from blood clots!

Apparently, anybody who can ride a bike at 20 km/hr for more than 5 minutes is someone with incredible fitness!

Trouble is, almost all of us get older and slower, so it will either tell you that less and less often and the reverse more often,
Have you tried it? It sounds like you're guessing at how it works.

It doesn't compare with distant past glory days when I was younger, fitter and quite a bit faster.
From what I see, it assesses performance by comparing with my other recent activities. That should keep feedback relevant, both now and in future.
It could do with some refinement, that's for sure. The phrasing of its feedback is simply weird, and does the feedback take different bikes into account? etc

or it's lying.
What lies?
I really don't think they've thought this "feature" through properly.
If you've tried it, you'll know there's a button to provide Strava with feedback. This assumes you want to contribute something constructive.
Are they going to drive away their longest-term users, or highlight themselves as inaccurate, shallow flatterers?
Ah, apparently you're not in a constructive mood.

My guess is that it works similarly to Garmin's "training status" feature except it dresses it up with flowery AI verbiage.

That looks at your recent few activities, applies an algorithm, and decides if it thinks you're "over-reaching" or "productive" or "de-training" or whatever and suggests what it thinks you should be doing more of. It's a bit like a horoscope, every now and then it makes sense.

Not quite the singing praise they hoped for!

Previously said upthread (sorry I can't understand how to use multi-quote so had to copy). It's surprising I can use this computer at all.

Doctors with that mindset have to be treated with the utmost caution - A dear, departed friend of mine visited his doc to report his breathing wasn't as usual. Doc asked for details and friend said about not being able to do his 30 mile ride without getting very breathless. Doc said people of his age don't do that much. Within a few weeks he was diagnosed with a serious condition which may have been caught earlier.

I’m also an elite athlete according to the hospital! One advantage is they did some surgery on me they wouldn’t have done had I been a mere mortal. I did get the sense the doc was a tad disappointed when she looked up from her notes!
