Will people want to stop at all the checkpoints (there are 5)? I used to when I did the event several years ago because a) I was way less fit and needed the breaks! and b) I used to like getting my card stamped. But nowadays I would do a ride of this length with just one or no stops really.
As an "event" it's slightly odd when you think about it because there's no actual need to register if you don't want the badge - there's no numbers or timing chips or anything like that. There's literally nothing to stop you just cyling the route and buying a sandwich or cake at a checkpoint if you want to.
I think I would register online if I go, just to support the organisers and as I think it helps them to have accurate numbers of participants. But I doubt I'd really want to stop at every checkpoint - one of the gaps between checkpoints is only 4.8 miles.
I don't mind how people ride it - just wondering what the concensus is really?
