I’m not interested in doing Cambridge I don’t think. But I am up for sticking a few dates in the cycling calendar if anyone has any suggestions.

Anything in the sunny south would be a bonus. It’s not just that it’s sunnier and more convenient for me personally for what it’s worth… It’s also because the people are more civilised and the food’s better 👍😁

Shut up you tart
Get up here

I'm considering booking a hotel and driving down on the Saturday. Could go for a bit of a ride Saturday afternoon/evening.

@BurningLegs which ferry have you booked?
That sounds like a great idea! I'm currently booked on the 8AM on Sunday, but planning to change it.

Are you thinking of a hotel on the island, or mainland? Mainland would save the cost of a car ferry (£50).

Happy to setup a ride for the Saturday afternoon/evening around the New Forest, Winchester, or South Downs way areas.

Mainland and preferably where I can park free for 2 days.

Ref the ferry - is there only one terminal in Southampton?

Yes, it's called the Red Funnel terminal.

There are two services (Red Jet and Red Funnel) but the Red Jet is foot passengers only, much more expensive, and I don't think they allow bikes.

I think I’ll have to get up early and catch the train that allows me to catch the 10am ferry. Any later would be too late I think. 10am ok for you guys?

Why do we pay for the randonnee? Are there food stops?

Just booked a place - that does not guarantee that I'll be there, but figured it's better to book and cancel then not book at all. If I do come, it will be the day before like Norry or maybe even Friday night.

There was a £4.50 charge for the badge and you can also make a voluntary donation.

You don't pay for it, but there is the option to buy a badge and/or donate to the cycle club who organise it.

There are food stops but they're in places like schools and scout huts and usually operated as fund-raisers for community groups with home made cakes etc at reasonable prices e.g slice of cake or banana for 50p, drinks for £1, etc

In the past, the organisers would provide an A5 sized card with six squares on it and you can get them stamped at the food stops. They've done away with the cards this year but I assume the community groups will still operate the food stops.

If you want a particular drink mix, probably worth bringing a bag of powder in your pocket.
