Hi, are you riding the Race, Gran Fondo or Sportive part of ToC? Have you done it before?
Hi
It’s the sportive and I have not ridden it before. I was originally going to ride the closed road event in Norfolk but they changed that to open road. They therefore transferred me to the TOC. I’m from the Fens originally so guessing the course will be fairly flat but likely to have headwinds ( always ride into headwinds in the Fens whichever direction you travel in).

The first third is hills, nothing serious, but can be leg sapping if trying to hang onto a fast pack. Latter section becomes a little hilly again.

I expect the sportive to just as fast as the UCI qualifier-if you want it to be

Cheers Tommy, I need to find something, not even built my Tripster back up since Tenerife

Maybe it’s just something that has to click on its own. Building the bike up might help. Don’t know... I think you were on the right track with the single speed. It’s got to be fun first before anything else.

I know I've said it before, but this is why I'm taking the SS to Cambridgeshire .... to make it more fun. Taking my geared bike would be 'normal', taking the SS is more of a challenge and it will be fun overtaking people on geared bikes  If I had a fast, fancy bike like Martin I'd take that, but that's for another year

It's getting real now ... really looking forward to it.

I know I’ve said this before too but I don’t think it is more of a challenge. Just a different type of challenge. Sounds very nit picky maybe but... You do have a geared bike, but it only has one gear. So that just means you’ll go at the pace and cadence that gear dictates. In some ways that actually makes it easier compared to those amongst us who’ll be going flat out all the way :cuppa:

I can’t remember who’s coming to Wales for the DD

Bob
Lee
Pete
Carl (?)
Dean
Paul (Bridgy)
Bill
Adam
Randy (?)
Rob (?)
Norry (?)
Me

Andy of course has just said he can’t make it. Kipster also can’t makw it this year. Did I miss anyone else out? It looks like a great turnout if all or even most the people on that list make it to the start.

(Dare I say it out loud but..) The weather looks promising. In Wales a big dark cloud is never far away as I’m sure we’ve all experienced. But the predicted temperature is a high of 15c so fingers crossed!!

It was SOOO hot last year - I forgot to put suncream on and got burnt to a crisp!

Looking forward to it - we'll have to resurrect the DD WhatsApp group a bit nearer the DAY :okay:
