Looking at this tubeless thing myself , Im sure when I got my bike they said It was tubeless ready. Do I need specific tyres ? if so how do I know if the tyres I have already are suitable, I have Bontrager AW1-Hard Case 700x32c. I had a look on the Bontrager site and they do a step by step on putting in the sealant but not much else is explained.

"Your bike came with Bontrager TLR wheels
If you bought a new Bontrager RXL, RL, Race or Aura 5 wheelset with TLR technology, your wheelset purchase included the rim strip and valve, so all you need is tires and sealant."

Some say you do not need tubeless specific wheels just need to make the wheel airtight. Personally speaking I would rather a two way fit wheel. You definitely need specific tyres Hutchinson, Schwalbe and Bontrager all do them they are much thicker and stiffer than most tyres. and have a special bead on them, or at least a strengthened bead. Bontrager Race TLR 2013 appear to be tubeless ready, but you need a kit

It looks like it has the bead but the wheel is not sealed, my Fulcrums Two Way Fit are ready sealed all I needed was the right tyre and sealant.

I run some cheapo Maxxis tubeless, in fact we have not found a tyre yet we cannot run that way, that is on the MTB's though.

@Andrew_P Cheers for the fast response. I'm reading up about it at the moment, I have to say there is very little real info on it all.

Just something I was thinking about doing when my tires need changing. Purely because I can. Have plenty of time to read about it and get some more info. I may just ask at the store when there next month although If I do that I will most likely come away with it too.

I now have the tyres, just got to decide on the kit, there seems to be a wide range in terms of cost. stans seems to be the most expensive, no flats joes less so, are there any other options?

First time in 3000 odd miles that I had one not seal enough to just top up with air, tried putting some more sealant in and blasting with CO2. Failed Soaking wet dark raining 6 miles from home. Two options walk or try and get a tube in. What a daffodil of a job at the roadside! Absolutely stunned I managed to do it without pinch the tube. No way could you patch one in the dark and rain, it would be a struggle in daylight without a decent rag and something to clean the inside out with
