I think the idea is that you'll eventually have to sign up for premium, they're deliberately trying to make the content unwatchable due to the adverts (whilst actually making money from the ads), thus forcing you to pay them to go ad-free. Thing is, if everyone signed up for premium they wouldn't make any money from the ads anymore, and their natural greed would lead to increased subscription costs to keep the money flowing in. Or maybe they'll start bringing adverts back for those who only have the 'basic' premium. You'll the need super-duper extra special premium to avoid the ads! Cynical, moi?

Cynical ! Nah a realist, I am increasingly getting a fit of pique over where all this media malarkey is going.
I am sat up here ,high on my hill watching all the eejits scurrying around over other 'influencers', i dismiss it all ! The world's going bonkers 'coz no one is brave enough to say boo to a goose! They have to be super gracious to everyone ,and not have an opinion of there own.
Meanwhile I am that fool on the hill watching the world going round....

I hardly get any ads on YouTube - but I have Ublock Origin running on my Browser - that seems to block a lot of them
I notice them if I use Chrome and suddenly I get swamped by adverts!

There does seem to be an ongoing battle by the ad companies trying to get round the blockers and the bloskers trying to get round the get rounds

I do sometimes feel that it is wrong to use them - after all some companies do deserve the ad revenue - but then I see one that just takes the whatsit and I keep it

The amount of adverts and the increasing frequency of adverts on You Tube videos is really getting to me! 🧐 I watched a video the other day which seemed to have a mind numbing advert every 90 seconds and it wasn't just the one, but sometimes two that you couldn't 'skip', meaning one minute of pure GRRR!!!:cursing:. I like to watch videos on my laptop while washing up in my kitchen, but it's getting beyond a joke now as I have to keep drying my hands to skip, or try to skip the annoyance. 🧐
Use an ad-blocker. One I use gets rid of all the video ads from the start of youtube videos as well as ads within web pages, etc.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I pay for YT premium so no ads for me. But apparently the content creator doesn't get any money from my "watches" ...they only earn from the free users watching ads

That isn't the case. YouTube statement:

How YouTube Premium supports creators

Creators are the heart and soul of YouTube. To ensure that they're compensated for their work, we share ad revenue with them when you watch ads on YouTube. If you're a YouTube Premium member, you won't see ads, so we share your monthly membership fee with creators. Best of all, the more videos you watch from your favourite creators, the more money they make.

Apparently, 70% of the subscription income is paid to creators.

I was shocked to discover how much YT I have been watching since going ad-free - It averages close to 2 hours a day! Mind you, my TV viewing has dropped a lot so my total screen time is not that different.

Mis-use of the term "The Royal We". My boss, and our CEO have both started using it; they think it means "well not me personally, but other people". When in fact it means "I" personally, if you are royalty.
Not so much an annoyance, but one of those funny linguistic things that someone mis-understands and then other people use it wrongly and it becomes widespread norm

The growing confusion and lack of care in the appropriate use of amount, number and quantity!

Really is annoying me in a big quantity!
This!!^^
Don't call me a grammar Nazi. I prefer the term alt-write! ^_^

I haven't heard that usage.

I think it would annoy me immensely (and not unexpectedly)

They're a reincarnation of Margaret Thatcher, "We are a grandmother."
