When what they have sent doesn't work, or isn't accepted.

nothing is sent.

On the laptop it says they've sent the validation code to landline, but the landline didn't ring.
So i went back and selected a text to the mobile, they said it had been sent but no text arrived.
Tried the email option... same. Nothing sent. and yes... i checked the spam box.

I'm not a fan of the two step verification either. Its the increasing number of non working/not accepted links received that annoys me.

I could have called a number to verify, but being a credit card payment, they'd only speak to the card holder, and Mum had gone out two minutes prior.

It's even worse when the account holder that they insist on talking to for verification is your mum who you had just told them had gone out permanently [died!] two weeks prior!

Unfortunately, I am being serious about that...

My mum died a couple of years ago and we phoned a call centre to arrange to close one of her accounts. The operative insisted that we put her on the phone to verify that she wanted the account closing. We reminded the operative that the mum in question was still, in fact, dead. Not good enough, we must put her on the phone to verify ... "WE ... CAN'T ... DO ... THAT ... - ... SHE ... IS ... DEAD!!!!!!" :cursing:

A lot of people are clearly spending their working days not engaging their brains in what they are supposed to be doing.

I leave the front door (along with my four windows) of my flat open for an hour or so in the summer to let fresh air in. Last night left it open only to find when I went downstairs to close it that it had already been closed. It hadn't closed with the wind as it had been fully closed with the door handle. Maybe I should post this on https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/trivial-things-that-please-you-beyond-all-expectations.278148/ as I think whoever closed my door was thinking I'd left it open by mistake and closed it for me for security reasons, but they also stopped the fresh air getting into my flat, so sorry it's a slightly reluctant  from me.:okay:

Today I thought it was time to give the the old car a quick clean at the local jet wash to see what the colour the original paint was. Whilst driving down to it ,I courteously let another car out as it was struggling at a junction to pull out. I then followed this car which ended up going to the same jet wash as I was. It was a bit annoying because they spent nearly 25 minutes cleaning their rust bucket, whilst I waited patiently for my turn.
Sometimes being polite and courteous does have its drawbacks 🤣
