As if a checkout worker has any say in the stock and distribution system of the company yet face hostility from customers for things way outside if thier control.

I don't mean supermarkets, I mean places like Halfords, Wickes, B&Q etc. Customer service 101 is to offer to look out the back, or offer an alternative, or check to see if the customer has just missed it on the shelf. When they don't even try, that annoys me. Of course I never take it out on the staff

Annoying thing for today

People who try to be nice and let you out of a junction on a road

WITHOUT checking around to make sure that if you go then a crash will happen

happened today
coming out of a side road onto a main-ish road - turning right
an SUV was turning right into the road I was coming out of

so he nicely stopped short and waited for me to turn in front of him
BUT - he failed to notice the line of cars behind him and a white car decided to move left and carry on
so if I had moved out then I would have hit the white car
so I waited
soon the white car was past and the next car noticed the potential problem and had stopped
so I accelerated (slowly!) to turn righ
at the same time the person waiting for me gave up on me and accelerated (faster) into the side road
I stopped quickly and he carried on

on drawing level with me he stopped and wound his window down and shouted at me for not taking him up on his offer of goingfirst

clearly he had no idea that the white car had been there

If he had just taken his right of way everyone would have been better off!!!!!

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
When they say caught and bowled in cricket I think it should be bowled and caught instead. You first bowl then you catch the ball. You don't catch the ball then bowl it. 🤔

'Caught and bowledDismissed by a catch taken by the bowler. The term originates from the way such dismissals are recorded on a scorecard (c & b); the alternative "bowled and caught", referring to the sequence of events in the strict chronological order, is almost never used.'

In the old days - when I started working on computers - i.e. in the 1980s and 90s

people used to often ask whether or they should switch if on and off

nowadays - partly thanks to "The It Crowd" possibly - people tend to switch things off and on

I miss the old days and the opportunity to confuse people

Currys. If you buy something on their website and pay via PayPal then they can’t return it in store!
Took a TV Stand back to the store to be told as I’d pay via PayPal I need to take it home to arrange collection. This is despite the website saying I can return in store!
